I've never been excited or too particular about pens, but I absolutely love these pens and will go out of my way to find one when I need to write anything at all.

I personally prefer the finer .5mm version which is the just right Goldilocks compromise between the .7 and .3 versions for writing legible but small detail notes on things like invoices or contracts. Turns out the .5s are also on sale for just under $1/pen with S&S:

Love these pens! I'm a smearer and these don't smear. Need blue though.

Above $1 per pen after tax, not good. I usually aim at around 75c.

These are great and in a lot of places I use them.

But also, I also pick up really inexpensive pens for situations where pens frequently "walk away" or get lost by my ADHD. If you want a pen you won't be at all sad to lose, Amazon has a 10 pack of very inexpensive Bic Round Stick pens [amazon.com] for under $1 (10c each pen). They also have a slightly thinner point on that same page that is a 12 pack but still works out to about 10 cents each. The quality is mid, but probably the best I've gotten at this low of a price point. (And better than the comparable pens at Dollar Tree). The biggest negative is they aren't retractable, but I've had retractable cheap pens break near-instantly near-constantly so IMO this really a positive

Again I'm not claiming these are a better deal than the OP's deal, but I'm sure some folks seeing the deal lose pens as frequently as I do lol

Actually uni-ball® 207™ Retractable Fraud Prevention Gel Pens of 0.5mm is now only 80c per pen if you do S&S.

These pens are cheap for a reason. When you try to write the writing tip doesn't come all the way out.You can only view just the top part

Thanks for posting. I like trying all sorts of pens when I see a deal or just to try a new one out. I bought some of these a while back, and I couldn't remember how well they worked, but I had one sitting near me just now and tried it out on a few different writing surfaces, and in the 20 seconds I did that it stopped working. That's a sample size of 1, but I also prefer a slightly thicker line, so I'm going to pass for now.

But if anyone is looking for a good dirt-cheap pen, lately I have been using the Paper Mate InkJoy 100st, a triangular-shaped, non-retractable, 1.0mm pen that is often sold in a variety of colors. I like the triangular shape, and it writes pretty well, and I also like to switch colors sometimes in my note-taking. Recently I saw a multicolor 8-pack show up in the Dollar Tree stores around me for $1.25, and right now I see a multicolor 18-pack on Amazon for $2.99 ( https://www.amazon.com/dp/B074HGQBC4 ).

Why can't we get any deals on the blue ink versions of these pens?!? Seems like all the deals recently for good writing pens have been for black ink versions.

I love these also, but they do smear. On certain labels I found they will bleed out also. I still use them because I like the way they write- I'm just careful not to accidently rub my hand across what I just wrote, and I avoid writing on labels

These pens don't seem to be archival quality if that is something you are looking for.

There is no mention of archival quality on Sharpie's own website. Also on their Q&A [sharpie.com], someone asks if these pens are good for writing checks. Customer service responds:

" Hello,

We appreciate your interest in our products. Sharpie S-Gel pens are not classified as permanent; they use gel ink that is designed for smooth writing but is not waterproof or fade-resistant like traditional Sharpie permanent markers. While they offer bold, high-quality ink, they may not be the best option for check writing, as banks often recommend pens with fraud-resistant ink, such as those labeled archival or waterproof. If you need more assistance, please do not hesitate to us reach us via https://www.sharpie.com/support/contact-us or through LiveChat. We're available Mon.-Fri. 9am -5pm Eastern Time.

Thank you!
