Doesn't that contradict itself though. If there is demand, there is demand for physical too, and there is resale value for physical which digital do not.
That's exactly it. I guess the way I worded my post was confusing.
I guess disc drive deal alert shall be set.

I guess I am just getting lazy. Take Elden Ring for example. I own the Ps4 version which had a free upgrade to PS5. However every time I want to play that game i have to search for the disc, insert it, let Sony check my license and finally I get to play. Most games I have on disc I will never sell. They are a part of my collection over the years of commitment and each has memories and it's own story to tell. I own both re2 and3 remakes on ps4 disc's. Digital to me is basically me having the convenience of going to my library navigating to said game and hitting the X button. And please don't start with the if you buy digitally you don't own the game totally but with physical you do. Both the Crew from Ubisoft and Anthem from EA are prime examples. I have The crew on disc. I bought the ultimate edition. They pulled the plug and now the game disc is useless. Anthem is about to go that same route. When you buy a game it doesn't mean you own it physical or digital. you just own the license like a driver's license. it can still be revoked or taken away. Publishers don't even have to promise support. They can yank it from storefronts shut down servers and all you spent is now a piece of useless plastic.

Your two examples are both online-only games. It's guaranteed the servers will be shut down and the discs will become coasters for those types of games.

I bought the VR edition on the Meta and had fun with it. I wouldn't say it was worth the Meta purchase though.
The OCULUS version is the original GameCube game in VR
The PSVR2 is the remake in VR as well
