- Without turning the phone on, inserted an inactive T-Mobile SIM card.
- Turned the phone on and let it sit for about 20 minutes, allowing the SIM to do its thing. (I put the phone in an unplugged microwave to block any potential connection from Metro, but it might not be necessary.)
- Phone asked to restart to switch service. I restarted the phone.
- T-Mobile splash screen now appeared at boot.
- Skipped all the setup and arrived at home screen. No Metro eSIM push observed.
- Check the APN and it's fast. t-mobile .com. Settings -> Connections -> Mobile Networks -> Access Point Names.
- Removed T-Mobile SIM card and restarted. APN is still fast. t-mobile .com.
- Activated Metro eSIM and connected to Wi-Fi.
- Metro pushed eSIM to phone and it got installed.
- Phone asked to restart to switch service. I restarted the phone.
- Metro splash screen now appeared at boot.

- Disabled Metro eSIM, turned on airplane mode, inserted the T-Mobile SIM, and turned off airplane mode.

- For Network operators setting, I left it as Select automatically.
Based on these observations and a few reports here, I have a high degree of confidence that this phone will work with T-Mobile SIM on day 1. Having 2 active SIMs in the phone might cause some issues of switching network. I recommend to have only 1 active SIM (Metro or T-Mobile) in the phone. You can disable Metro eSIM while using T-Mobile SIM card. I saw that having dual SIMs from Metro and T-Mobile still work. But I also read that it causes issue intermittently. Too bad I don't have an active T-Mobile SIM to play around with. I dropped T-Mobile a while ago.NOTE: phone not connected to Wi-Fi and Metro eSIM is not activated on Metro website yet.
Edited to add that a few reports stating that phone no longer registers with T-Mobile network after provisioning the phone locally with a T-Mobile SIM.
Yup. Just used my s20 fe as a $800 trade in as these FE phones are treated the same as other s lines.
Excellent deal even if you can't use it much for a year. Should have good trade in value later on too.

For some reason, it did not auto activate after 14 days.
