The reviews at BestBuy are excellent, and they paid a lot more than us Slick dealers did.

However it will not make much difference because with your offer you will have to pay 2 months service up front, locked or unlocked.
I ended up paying only $100 total ($50 tax and $50 for one month service).
Be wary that many Total stores will refuse to sell without at least a $25 network activation fee and many look for an additional setup fee, also many add the $5 protection plan, though that is easy to cancel later.
They store charged me $150 at the time of sale and refused to give me an itemized bill of sale.
However when I followed up afterward with the store owner to get an itemized bill of sale (I knew I would win that one), refunded $50 of the charges as well without my even asking. I guess he wanted the bill of sale to be defensible.
I believe that for at least some published offers, they are not supposed to add extras, not even the $25 network activation fee that stores normally charge.

thats a heck of a deal
too bad i was out of country during that time

I will say that these Total stores are often very hard to deal with. So much so that I hesitated in sending people there. But you yourself are so experienced in dealing with stores that maybe it will be easy for you. Some people have had problems finding stores with stock too so phoning ahead may be advisable.
