personally I think the real value if you're a pixel fan is with a refurbished pixel 8 or Pixel 8 pro. a renewed pixel 8 on Amazon is between 200 and 250 and you can find the pixel 8 pro for under 350 sometimes renewed. it won't have 100% battery but you'll get the telephoto camera if you get the pro model. get 5 years of updates. and the money you're saving if you get the regular pixel 8, you could easily just get a new battery. frankly I prefer the ergonomics on the pixel 8 which is a little more rounded. the flat edges sell better because of the association with premium iPhones but they're pretty unpleasant to hold relative to the more soft ergonomic back curve that the pixel 6, 7 and 8 all had.

According to the terms, you need two months of service and not one month. Am I missing something?
only need 30 days of service to keep discount or they will try charge difference of full price to card on file. If want it unlocked need pay for 60 days.

These deals not as good previous months. 9A was $199 in April and 9 was $249 in July.

Talked to their CS and looked at the terms for previous similar deals (excluding the $249 one), and this is what the unlocking status will be for this if you buy it without an annual plan for $339:
The Pixel 9 will come locked to US Mobile. You must activate it within 15 days, and keep service for 30 continuous days to keep the discount (they will charge you for the difference if you do not follow the above). Once the 30 days pass, the phone will become unlocked.
the fine print says 60 days for me.
I just got it. It came unlocked in regular Google packaging. Activated on the cheapest line via ESIM as somebody on this chat advised. Added second physical SIM from my main line. works just fine so far

I'd rather not port my number. I think what I want to do is unlock the phone using the xda method, keep my current plan with tello, and use the dual sim feature to fulfill the 60 day US Mobile requirement. Cheapest US Mobile plan is 50 texts - 0 talk - 0 data for (i think it was) $4.50/mo.

Not sure if all of the above will work
No requirements of porting. Just buy $339 option, then activate it with the cheapest plan (new number) for 60 days to unlock. That's it.
It came unlocked, I don't know whether I should even keep on US Mobile for 60 days.Yes I activated with the cheapest plan for $4.50 with the new # and eSIM

Yeah I think we're on the same page. I just don't want to wait 60 days before I can use the phone, so I'm hoping I can unlock it following xda instructions. This way I can use the double sim feature w both my current tello plan, and a new, useless $5/mo plan from US Mobile.

^^ haven't read through all of those instructions yet, but it appears I'm going to need a physical SIM from tello, and an esim from US Mobile
Don't need to it comes unlocked

if its unlocked check OEM unlock should not be greyed out under developer options.

And it is not. I put a second SIM in from my main line and it works. It is an unlocked phone from the get go. Same experience as some other "slicker" described

Mine is greyed out and it says "Unavailable on carrier locked devices"
I bought it without 1-year plan though, not sure if that's the difference.

I got the $250 deal, I switched to the lite plan for $10 the second month. it unlocked 2 days prior to the renewal date, so did not have to pay for the third. Great deal. Current deal would be about $100 more.

I was told by someone in another Pixel thread that once a Pixel phone is "unlocked", it can't be remotely "lock" again.

Or would they try to clawback the "discount" on the phone and charge back that amount if cancelled prior to 90 days?

So you created a new account/new line, then popped your SIM card in from your existing phone and are able to use your original number with this new phone?

Order phone without plan press skip. Add new line>low data>monthly>custom 50 texts $1.50+$2 Service Fee+Taxes shows total $4.48 sim is free
You would do this after making a separate order for the phone, correct?
