Does it seem like the launch deals of the pixel series this year is pretty mediocre? No notable trade in deals and all these deals require activation with whatever carrier for some time.

While I have US mobile and it won't be an issue to keep it in the service, these deals seem kinda luke warm
Honestly, I've been tracking deals for over a decade on Slickdeals. Deals in general these past months have been mediocre at best. Even during the crazy 9% inflation of 2022, deals were better.

It's hard to give a good deal when the moron-in-chief keeps raising taxes on everything.

I will wait for my current Pixel 9 to unlock and when it does, I could jump on this, it is already offering me one for 499 as existing customer but I do not want to be stuck with locked phone and have a feeling in 2 month time price will be less as they depreciate so much.

I'm not supporting the pixel line up any longer. Closing your operating system is anti-consumer.

Carrier locked means they can brick your phone at any time they want just by sending extra voltage to the motherboard chips which control the USB-C USB-A charging. Samsung has been doing that for many years.

With the Samsung S-series, under the wireless charging and two chips on the motherboard... they are not voltage regulated and can fail through software updates.

The pixel is probably your best bet, unlocked. The carriers hire very stupid people, and that is unfortunate. But it's better to be suveilled by a pure evil company, rather than the evil being able to soft brick your phone at will with their overlay OS.

If you can wait, the Pixel 11 will be the Pixel to get.The new Tensor chip for the 11 should be smalller nm."the Pixel 11 will reportedly use the Tensor G6, built on an even more advanced 2nm process from TSMC, positioning it for potentially greater power, efficiency, and even more advanced on-device AI capabilities than the Pixel 10"
doesn't that happen nearly every iteration? wasn't the G4 a 4nm chip?
Sure, but this is a huge leap.
  1. Pixels are known to be plagued by heat.
  2. Pixels are known to be battery hogs.
It's just a PSA. I was in the market for the Pixel 10 (I have a Pixel 7), and the upgrade for the 11 is just too much of a leap for me to warrant spending on the 10 as a stepping stone. I'm just going to keeping my Pixel 7 and wait 14 months for BF 2026. Granted, the G6 is supposedly for the P11, but maybe it will be delayed.

Any iOS or Android device running a recent operating system can be remotely locked or bricked by the manufacturer or carrier. If the device supports MDM, it can be disabled through a provisioning server. This is the same mechanism Apple and Google use for SIM locking, though MDM can serve other purposes as well.
Many people try to game the carriers to get these devices, but if the carriers choose to enforce it, they can remotely disable them.

I agree - I had a Pixel 7 Pro and would still have it if the screen hadn't shattered (as an aside, I will never have a curved screen again, they're just a gimmick that makes them easier to damage) - but also the "wait for the next generation" is a pretty common joke at this point.

The Pixel 11 might be a huge leap, but it might also be incremental over the 10. For those of us who don't want/need the latest and greatest, enough incremental updates represent a huge leap and yeah, maybe 7 -> 11 is the way to go. I will say that the 10 has its advantages over my 7, so if someone needed to buy a phone today and they could find a good deal (MSRP on Pixels is a joke), it's a perfectly fine purchase and I wouldn't try hanging on another year just because. In fact, the very uncertainty of the US political climate would make me more inclined to buy now if I needed one, rather than waiting.

Honestly, the bigger deal is that the Pixel 10 just isn't a good phone for the price. Personally, I wouldn't buy it unless it was dirt cheap; the 10 Pro is the way to go for the price difference, assuming you can find a palatable deal.

US Mobile had another deal with Unlocked+Keep 30d service. It's $820 for a P10XL if you don't get the annual plan.

Honestly, I still wasn't jumping at the price because I believe the MSRP should be $800 for that model, so $820 + 30-day service is stretching it, even though the device is unlocked from the get-go.

Really just wanted to try a Pixel because I never had one before, but from what it sounds like, the overall lineup is disappointing and overpriced. And that was before Apple said anything about the base model iPhone 17, which is the killer deal imo.
This specific deal is meh because the phone is locked for 60d while you have to pay them two months of service.

That's what everyone was saying about the Pixel 10...
