The 5080 desktop is about 20-25% better than 5090mobile.
The difference between 5080mobile and 5090mobile is about 10%.
The reason is available power draw.
This laptop still is good. The processor is in the top 5, the ram is good, the screen is great. But I personally would get a similar spec laptop with a 5080mobile and save 30% of my money to lose maybe 10% of performance.

not what i was saying. i would have returned my prebuilt 5080 system for the more expensive laptop if the GPU (5090) actually performed as a 5090 and not toned down to a 5070ti ish performance

does it feel heavy? since gotta carry it everyday
Also consider that huge power brick as a gaming laptop like this needs recharging after 3 to 4 hours of use on battery.
Don't get this if you intend to use the battery as anything other than a UPS. Makes no sense.
I have the gen8 w/ 4090(mobile) 16gb vram and 175w
This 5090(mobile) has 24gb vram and 175w
My desktop 5090 has 32gb vram and 600w.
There are none because that's a crazy claim lol. The 5090 Mobile GPU die is similar to the 5080 desktop and probably after thermal/power limits are accounted for, the performance is closer to the 5070 Ti (same die as well but lower power and some disabled regions). Still much more performance than the 5070 desktop
I tried looking for benchmarks to support this claim. Can you refer me to any, please?
