Primary Cell, non-rechargeable.
Competitor/contemporary of the Energizer Lithium Max AA/AAA, etc. cells.
If you have an outdoor or in-freezer device that sees sub-0c temperatures, this is the kind (chemistry) of battery you'll need.
Alkalines and Carbon-Zinc (Heavy Duty) cells do not deal well with sub-freezing temperatures.

About the same as tossing an alkaline AA in the trash...
The difference is. An alkaline if punctured probably won't do much. Lithium ion if punctured catches fire and almost nothing can put it out.
Or instead of making it the future generation's problem, just drop them at Lowe's/HD or other battery recycling center. A little effort goes a long way.
Don't buy off brand Lithium 1.5 AA's. None of them are like Energizer's formula. They don't hold up over time in storage or is low power use.
Funny thing about that. I bought some Energizer lithiums to put in my Blink cams outside. They all died within 3 months, a couple of them died less than that. I know Blink doesn't recommend regular batteries, but I used them anyway in some of the cams and they're still going strong.
They work when new obviously. But it's 5-6 years down the line when the offbrand stuff dies in the packaging.
If your intention is to use them rather quickly then you'll have no issue.
Yes, when I bought my Energizers, I looked my check-out girl right in the eye, and shook my fist at her and hollered - If these don't last, YOU WILL SEE ME IN 2050!
That's one of the best uses for this style of lithium AA battery. But you can also get rechargeable 1.5v AA lithium batteries for a little bit more nowadays too.
Looked into rechargeable AA lithiums for my Flume, and they all seem to suck. So I use non-rechargeables like these when they're on sale.

I've used many Energizer and off-brand lithium AA's, keeping track of how long they last in my Flume (which takes 4 at a time). My conclusion is that Energizers aren't worth the additional cost, in some cases the Energizers died sooner. Quality control with Energizers is better, and there's less chance of duds, but it still happens.

Powerowl and ALLMax 1st,2nd place-- but more money per battery when factoring in this sale price.
