I am not qualified to answer. But common sense would say that even Chinenesium is noted by metal detectors.

However, I'm still considering getting it to put in checked luggage. It would save me from buying something similar for a higher price, overseas.

I purchased a similar design a month ago but returned it as there was so safety at all, so it would be very easy to get a nasty finger cut using it. This item says it has a liner lock, so am tempted to get this version to see if that's the case.
