I've never heard of this happening...sounds pretty shady. If this was truly allowed, what's to stop them from doing this to everyone? If they reject my phone or offer a lesser trade-in value than originally quoted, they best be prepared to ship it back to me. Unless, of course, I signed something agreeing to that (which I never would).
Be patient. I'm on a legacy plan, Magenta Max over 55. $ 90 month for two phones, plus another $ 5.50 month for each watch with cellular service.
Last February, they had a Presidents' Day promotion. One week promo extended for two additional weeks. Got the same $ 800 trade in for an IPhone 13 as those on the most expensive plan. Would have been $ 1,000 if I had the Pro Max to trade in. No plan change required. My wife got the 16 Pro Max.
If they repeat, I'll trade my 14 Pro Max in for the $ 1,000 trade. Just hoping. Don't snooze.
i thought it was for valentine's day π but i was able to take advantage of that promo on a legacy plan too
I'm on a Magenta plan, upgrading to a new plan would cost me way more. T-Mobile's best offer to me is $300 off. Any suggestions for a the best trade in deal? I'm not considering changing carriers either.

I'm in the same boat, haven't been able to find any good deals.

I'm also on the same boat. no way I'm "upgrading" to the more expensive plan that excludes taxes and fees. Ill prolly wait a bit and see if anything else comes out. if anything I'll pay full price for the phone and sell my existing one, which when looking it up I can get more than $300 for

There is a risk that your trade in phone will be rejected for various reasons. My friend traded four in at a corporate store. They said fine. Later, one was rejected. You don't get the phone back. Other people have been told after the fact that they didn't qualify. Phone gone.

It happens to me last year, traded in my iphone 13 pro, excellent condition, no crack ,no water damage, find my iphone is off at Houston T-mobile corporate store. I handed the phone to a rep, he took it said everything is fine, didn't give me any paperwork. I got a strange feeling so I told him give me his screen I took a picture, I took a picture with him holding my phone. Guess what a day later, my trade in turn into ZERO dollar, showing find my iphone is on, and cracked screen! I took it up with T-force, send them my pictures, they credit my account. BUT I WAS STRESSFUL, you have to prove yourself!

If they do the trade-in properly at a corporate store, the value is applied to your account and promotion approved then and there. there's no getting rejected later. Get a receipt and you're done with it.
You'll also be able to check your account activity for a receipt that will have this line on it "CONVERTED DEFFERED TRADE-IN TURN-IN"
meaning they accepted your trade-in.
There was a deal for simple choice but it makes you add a line on top of trade in!
I gave it a go on a Simple ONE 55+. I got a free Pixel 10 (upgrade /w trade-in) and everything looks good so far.
I also got a iPhone 17 (new line /w trade-in /w port-in) which had a $630 promo TIV. The text after ordering confirmed $630, but the app says $300 estimated TIV...which is the TIV w/o a new line offer.
Not sure if the lower estimated TIV is normal and will update to the higher TIV with some time or if it'll take a phone call.

They do trade ins on a weird way. They will give you some money upfront and the rest will be split in 24 installments. If they promised 630, you will get 630 in the end.

Sounds like they took it to a store that then put it in a box and mailed it with the label. Don't let them do that. https://www.t-mobile.com/support/...old-device
