I ordered a pair for walking on my in-laws' new wood floors.

Track spikes are specialty shoes specifically designed for sprinters on track surface. They're essentially useless for anything else. They would be incredibly uncomfortable to just wear around for casual use. Would be similar to wearing baseball or soccer cleats around, even if you didn't put the metal spikes in.

Spikes are usually removable, but the outsole is very hard plastic so not good for running on pavement.
