I hope for something like this but for the M4 Pro model. Maybe, just maybe it is around the corner

This would be like an "Air" but able to handle more external monitors? Is that the benefit here?

Even though it's not a pro chip, it would have better cooling, better battery life and the Liquid Retina XDR display unlike an Air.

Yep, the ProMotion 120Hz display plus the qLED display they snuck in make it worth it, even for just an M4

Also more ports, better sound and a MagSafe power port.

If you have the $ and don't mind an extra half pound of weight (over a 13in Air) it seems to me to be the obvious choice.

What's the significance with calling it a late 2024 model? Isn't it just the 2024 model (that was released towards the end of the year)?

It's apples naming scheme. I have a "late 2018" intel mbp. Says that in system info.

Vs the latest OLED laptops, the Apple screen quality is just not up to par for movies.

For everything else, it's fine.

But you get all the goodies at the same price point with previous generations. It is still a let down for those upgrading.

the on sale / off sale pricing games are getting a bit old

micro center has been selling the 16/512 for $1,249 for the last, oh i dunno, 3-4 months?

then everyone bumps the prices back up once school started (including micro center, and also on the $449 mac mini which is back to $499), now the sales are coming back again

it's getting a bit ridiculous

Isn't that how sales work on products? You say Microcenter had it on sale for $1249. That's a great deal. But aren't most of their sales (in-store only)? You say it like everyone lives by a Microcenter if it was in an in-store sale. I would pay $1299 in a heartbeat rather than $1249 having to waste 2.5hrs of time and gas. But Microcenter is currently $1399. So I will rep this deal

I'm sill mind boggled why anyone would purchase an MacBook with iPhone chips lol or iPad chips. Intel products and PC's are far superior for less
