Good deal!
I bought mine in early 2020 and paid more! Still going strong with daily use!
I just clean it 2 - 3 times a year.

Curious, buying whole beans is cheaper I'd imagine, right? About how much do you save?

agreed. I bought mine second hand and the only thing I needed to replace was the plastic hopper. The company makes it super easy to get replacement parts so this will run for years a long as you don't burn the motor out. The grind is super consistent with minimal fine particles. it does ok for a espresso grind but I would buy a dedicated grinder more suited for that.

Not really about being cheaper. Whole beans, allegedly, hold their flavor better therefore freshly ground coffee "tastes" better. That said, the reason for a conical burr grinder is consistency in the grounds size to have consistent flavor from the drop process. Especially in pour overs and French presses.

I've honestly never noticed much of a difference, that said I'm probably still gonna get in on this.

This in an incredible price for a solid conical burr grinder. I think I've had mine for about ten years. It performs really well every day. I don't take care of it the way I should and I've only had to replace one part on it before.

Even though I use it every day for espresso, I would not buy primarily for espresso. Because it lacks finer adjustments at that size, it requires changing the weight quite a bit to get a good extraction.

All that to say, very good price for a very good grinder.

Why would whole beans be cheaper? Whole beans are higher quality.(by that i mean fresher) Cheap coffee is often pre-ground, just walk through the coffee aisle in a grocery store and have a look.

I guess I thought there was a markup for the extra work, but I guess not

There's usually little to no price difference. At least for the coffee i buy (Aroma Coffee Roasters out of Santa Fe, NM).

We've had one of these for years now, it moved cross country with us. It has been rock solid.

the science behind this would be that ground coffee has a larger amount of surface area to oxidize and breakdown compared to just a whole bean.

whole beans are not so much about cost savings, but more about improved flavor/taste from grinding right before brewing.

EDIT: oops, already answered by others multiple times. sorry about the redundancy.

I've had the metal body version of this (appears this one's just the ABS plastic housing with a 'stainless' appearance) and it has held up well so far - almost 9 years. I used to use it almost daily for probably a good 4+ years. I don't drink coffee regularly anymore, but it still works when I need it to.
