Unless Hershey is paying tariffs to Robinson, Illinois, (where Payday is made) you can definitely doubt.

Have purchased these 2 or 3 times in the past at $12 and change. They were NOT old, hard or stale. They were fresh. They are now $15+ due to tariffs no doubt.

Not my last 3 orders. I've bought them at different times when they dropped below $13.00 and they were all fresh.

This can be a problem with Amazon foods, but I received a box a couple weeks ago and they were fresh.

  • Carrageenan: Extracted from red seaweed, this additive is used as a thickener and emulsifier. While the FDA considers it "generally regarded as safe" (GRAS), animal studies have shown it can trigger or worsen intestinal inflammation, and some human studies suggest it may contribute to relapses of ulcerative colitis.
  • Mono- and diglycerides: These are added to processed foods as emulsifiers and are generally recognized as safe by the FDA. However, they may contain small amounts of trans fats and are primarily used in unhealthy processed foods.

I ordered some on May 2025 with a best buy date of August 2025, so three months. The last batch I ordered on August 2025 with a best buy date of March 2026, so seven months.

You be the judge.

The candy bars may by made in the USA but a lot of the ingredients used in candy bars like cocoa, sugar, vanilla, and nuts are imported. Mostly from Mexico and South American countries.

In fact some ingredients like Cocoa can't even really be grown in the USA due to the necessary climate, aside from some parts of Hawaii and a tiny region of Florida. But due to hurricane risks that part of Florida isn't really used for mass commercial farming. You have no choice but to import it.
