I know these are technically very different products and audiences, but would this be superior to Nespresso Classic? I've still got a lot of capsules left, but can be convinced to gift/donate my setup if this is better..
absolutely, you will also save so much money from getting coffee beans instead of capsules

This is WILD. I imagine I'm one of many saying I've had mine for a couple years - and it's just awesome. I GREAT purchase at 300. I paid 500 from 800 MSRP. Such a no brainer if you use K-Cups or pods.

Insane deal but already have two 3200 so no need for another. Very reliable machined if you maintain them.

Nice deal for those who got it.
We been using it for 3 years now, great machine.
Must pull internal mechanism and work it out by hand manually, to loosen before coffee becomes great. Some people recommend going through 50 cups of coffee to break in but it can be done manually by hand and you will have decent (not great) coffee from day one. This is what I did.
Just pull it out like for maintenance, move yellow level back and forth between end position unti it looses a bit, few dozen times. Easy, beats wasting coffee.

PS Ordered another one, will be great birthday gift for a friend who loves coffee.
Could you elaborate what you mean? Pull internal mechanism? I am really curious, I just got the 5500 refurb for $450 and wondering if there is a way to speed up the break in period.
I think that he meant taking the internal parts out like what is needed for maintenance (usually you'd need to pull to take it out)

I guess its time to put the manual espresso machine away.
Ive had this for a couple years and it was one of my best purchases. Someone recommended taking out the brew group and manually "pumping" it like 20 or so times to get is loose so it dials in quicker. Otherwise the first shots you pull won't be that great.I personally use Lavazza beans, with Super Crema being my fav. you can tweak the grind too but it is recommended you leave it at the factory setting for a while. Anyone who wants to upgrade from a Nespresso machine should go with one of these. Great purchase once dialed in
