Warranty: 3 years.
And you have to think about this.
Power Consumption (Max and Standby)
GS305 v3: MAX 2.15W / Standby 0.31W
GS308 v3: MAX 3.04W / Standby 0.36W
GS324 v2: MAX 11.1W / Standby 8.47W
The standby power consumption is as high as 8.47W. This value is extremely high.
Mean Time Between Failures (MTBF): The average time a device or system operates without failure.
GS324 v2: 620798 hours
GS524 v3: 1016877 hours
Better performance switch(Business): GS524 v3. Limited Lifetime Warranty.
You need to know this.
Netgear Switches that start with GS1- (GS108), GS5- (GS524), and GS7- (GS724) are high performance business switches backed by a limited lifetime warranty.
Netgear Switches that start with GS3-(GS308) are low performance home switches backed by a 3 year warranty
It's 1gb, which has been the "standard" for probably 20 years now -- although 2.5gb and 10gb-enabled devices are starting to (slowly) become more common. So you won't get future speeds on it, but it's backwards/forward compatible with faster and slower devices. For the most part, if you know you need a faster switch, you probably already have one or are looking for one. 1gb is plenty fast for the average person for a long time to come (far faster than wifi).
It's unmanaged. You can't do vlans or other advanced networking functions on it. If that doesn't mean anything to you, then you'd probably be fine with this.
It's hard to find something bad about it other than those two nitpicks, and even then, those are highly conditional upon your needs. It's a solid device. If you need this many ports, it's worth getting.
I have a 24-port switch (ZyXEL GS1100 - cost $78 back in 2013), and I bought the one in this post as a spare for the price.

Lots of people still use wired connections.
Link to the 8-port 10gb switches that are $100?

Cheap Chinese 8 port 10gb switches are around $100. Go to Amazon, Newegg, Aliexpress and more. 10gb Switches are no longer expensive.
this appears to be a dang good price if you need a 24-port basic switch, but cant tell if the case is plastic or metal.
Amazon Rufus says it's made of metal.

Could you bring me a plastic switch that has rack ears, if there is one?

Amazon Rufus says it's made of metal.
And actual reviewers say it's plastic.

"But for home use, a switch with this many ports is usually unnecessary."
Speak for yourself. I use around 18 of my 24 ports for casual home use. When you factor in a NAS, a handful of desktops, laptops, security cameras, etc....it's not hard to use it all up.
That's just a personal experience that applies only in special cases like yours. I'm using lots of routers and switches(24 to 48 ports, managed and unmanaged) in my home. However, most home users don't.
That being said I really appreciated all the details you gave in your initial post, in particular power consumption which I was wondering about 💯

Amazon aggregates their reviews across all of Netgear's products, a deceptive practice. The product page shows ~33K reviews, but when the reviews are filtered to include only this product, there are 92 reviews. None of those reviews mention plastic.

How's peak 8W standby power considered "high." It's LED lightbulb equivalent of having a 40-60W constantly on.
GS305 v3: MAX 2.15W / Standby 0.31W
GS308 v3: MAX 3.04W / Standby 0.36W
GS324 v2: MAX 11.1W / Standby 8.47W

Breaking it down might help, here are minimums, aka 365 days in only standby mode, with a price of $0.08/kWh and $0.16/kWh, here are MINIMUMS:
GS304 v3 - 2.7 kW Annually - $0.22 a year, $0.43 a year. $2.20/decade, $4.30/decade
GS308 v3 - 3.2 kW Annually - $0.26 a year, $0.51 a year. $2.60/decade, $5.10/decade
GS324 v2 - 37.7 kW Annually - $3.02 a year, $6.03 a year. $30.20/decade, $60.30/decade
If your electricity is cheap or you have solar and or just dgaf, then valid point. No need to worry about it. At the previously listed 8.47W standby usage, which seems to have been inaccurate, it was actually quite high, 10 year minimum was close to $120.
