Have you ever seen if the way of looping an extension cords with clockwise/counterclockwise windings ends up canceling out that sort of inductive loop? I know there's still some issues with heat dissipation if there's too much coil wound up, but I've always wondered if there's a way to print a winding mechanism that'll do the alternating winds
are you people putting 1000ft of cord on these or something?

do you think I can use a 12 gauge 0f 50 cable on this wheel?

A little flimsy but gets the job done. 50' 12/3 fills it up.

Do you have to unreel the whole line to plug it into the wall?
yes, if you're pushing the max watts for an extended period of time.
cord will heat up and need to let it cool.

That's what I got it for, and it barely fits. For more than occasional use, I would look for something else.

I leave about 2 feet loose at the plug end. I don't know what people are plugging into these things to worry about electromagnet and heat. lol Never in my life have I ever had either issue.

I've seen a plastic cable reel melt, with the cable wound up, powering a space heater. You live, you learnSmilie

Space heaters and window ac units, along with many other high wattage items, are NOT supposed to be plugged into extension cords.

If this has a plastic reel, then you might want to store it inside. My old one became brittle and the reel cracked in a few places. It did last many years so I'm going to replace it with one of these.

you really should. if you don't, your creating and electromagnetic coil that creates resistance. this heats up the cord faster and can end up causing several issues. damaging higher amp draw tools (circular saw), cord melting or fire, tripping breakers, etc.
I use one to make my own MRI machine. Put your head in the coil, have some take a Polaroid. (Optional: Send to Bobby Kennedy, Jr. for diagnosis.)
