The strength, rigidity and durability of suitcases go down in this order (and cost as well):

PC > PP > ABS

PC = Polycarbonate
PP = Polypropylene
ABS = Acrylonitrile Butadiene Styrene

NB: Maybe ABS is ok for carry-ons, but you definitely don't want it for your checked baggage.
