I have this and it doesn't leak. I neither remove the battery nor the oil and it's fine.

The self oiling feature is not that big a deal, they usually end up leaking and make a bigger mess. With these saws being so small, how much cutting could you really do? The other one gives you a small squeeze bottle for oiling and a brush. I just manually lubricate the chain. Easy. And it has the second battery which, in my opinion, makes it the better deal.

The other deal last week is $3 more but includes 2 batteries and a beautiful hard-shell case. https://slickdeals.net/f/18605056-6-seesii-mini-cordless-electric-hand-chainsaw-w-2x-21v-batteries-22-free-shipping

The chainsaw easily cut 5" trunk pepper tree multiple times and the battery still had some juice left. I want to buy another one for gift but I want extra battery and a hard-shell case.
Yes, for literally $3 more that's a better deal so after ordering this one I ordered that too. It arrived today and it has a superior design. How it holds up to actual use - will find out this weekend nod

Quote from slickdeal-mlim :
I had that seesii before and the chain cover nut strips the screw easily, which happened to me. Others had the same complaints. Once that screw is striped, no way for chain cover to stay on, so no chain tensioning, and chainsaw is useless
There's a machined bolt that comes out of the casing not a screw. If it strips, you can take it apart and put in a new bolt. Grade 8 bolts cost $3 at HD/Lowe's and if you want to save money, you can look online. I buy them by the pound every few years.

I am happy to do this for you as a fellow slickdealer for free - you mail it to me and pay for parts, not labor. woot

Also, where are people mentioning they are routinely stripping the machined bolt?

It's like comparing two piles of poop—one has two flies, the other is still warm and smells slightly better. At the end of the day, they're both still poop.
It depends. There are these, then there are $2k saws and everything in between. The operator's skill and understanding of the tool itself matter in power tools. I take these apart even before I use them to understand what their failure points are and ensure I don't hit them. Big Grin

Quote from LuigiDellVostro :
These are okay if you don't mind changing the chain every 30 minutes, because that's about how long it takes before the kerf becomes so narrow that the bar starts jamming. I have three, all different, all with the same problem.
If your kerfs become so narrow that the bar starts jamming (your bars shouldn't be making any contact with the timber - maybe you meant "chain" but you're an adult so I will take you up literally) then you're not using the proper technique. You should be cutting a companion kerf so they form a larger one when otherwise, a single one would start to pinch - does this technique make sense? If it does, you can google more for "relief cut"

Quote from xmenxmenxmen :
The reciprocating saw will certainly last longer. If you are cutting small branches, this is better. Also more flexible in tight areas. But if you want butter smooth and easier cutting, the chain saw will be way better. How long it will continue to work, that's anyone guess on this. So there are pros and cons for both.
This guy saws! worship

Do you use pruning blades? If so, which ones do you prefer the most?

My recommendation if you happen to be invested in the ryobi 18v system is to buy their portable chainsaw next time it goes on sale. It is sooo much more powerful than these cheap versions. I tried one of these and it constantly jammed or overheated, and eventually just quit working at all. I was able to get a refund from the seller on Amazon, then got the ryobi model and it is just incredible in terms of performance and build quality in comparison. No issues with overheating or stopping mid-cut.

That hard case would have been nice, but that deal is dead and this is just under $20 delivered today, so meh. I'll write something tomorrow about how ok or bad this is after using it for a while hopefully later today.
