No, it's preferable to get it from the store so you can cancel the Verizon line ASAP.

i think Verizon charges a full month bill even if you cancel within a day.

72 hours from the time you place your order to avoid paying the activation fee and only pay a prorated rate of a few dollars or none for the service.
Once you have the phone activated and have been assigned a phone # call to request your account closed immediately.
If you only ask to close the account without specifying immediately they will schedule it to close at the end of the billing cycle and you will be charged.
You will then receive a bill a couple weeks later requesting you to pay the activation fee and whatever amount for the service, you then call them back and remind them of their policy and they correct the invoiced amount.

I did this about a year ago with the Moto G 5G when it was $70. As indicated in the comments above you do have to call or chat them after cancelling/porting the line and explicitly request that they process the cancellation immediately.
