And now I don't have to pay for Netflix, Hulu, Hbo, etc ever. I watch everything in 4k hdr dolby digital highest bit rate stuff on my own Plex server running on this NAS. Worth it!

Does Ugreen have their own app for downloading/streaming latest 4k movies? If all you do is pirating, what makes ugreen any better than other nas? My pi4 and 4 bay das can stream 4k contents without hiccups and cost less than $200.

I suppose that would depend on if they are needing to transcode any or not. I would opt for an N100 for it's QuickSync capabilities over a Pi 4.

They don't have their own app. They have docker in their Ugreen OS app store and we have to setup TransmissionOpenVPN and Plex containers ourselves. The processor is capable of transcoding but I just download max bit rate stuff and my apple TV connected to the wired LAN has zero hiccups in streaming even 150MBps content from the NAS. Ugreen's NAS is all metal or metallic build so I can vouch for the hardware quality. OS is still evolving so the software isn't as good as Synology. I also use my NAS for multiple other use cases so I needed something well put together rather than DIY for each and everything. ymmv
They have Ugreen OS, and it has an app store that you can download to it or use Docker, it works really well if you want to have a NAS and backup your cloud like gdrive, or all your files remotely. I am using it to back up all my staff and do a RAID 1. All phone photos and GDrive are backed up in sync

You are bragging about saving $100 on that garbage setup?

Of course. $100 is $100. If my garbage setup can match your ferrari setup, why waste another $100? Did you forget why are you in this forum?
I know ugreen has UGOS, I thought there's a special app in UGOS that is a dream for pirates. Nevertheless, it is just different UI machine for extra money.
Basically, what UGOS does is trying to compete with Synology with different UI, nothing special.

good way to say it, ... but it is just too bad, ... most people don't LISTEN, and over time it gets harder to find good "fight club" locations. But the idiots generally don't think LONG TERM! Thanks Soofdawg, sounds like you know the drill!

why the HDD and SSD? are you keeping different media types or using them differently?

On mine the HDDs are the primary storage - where the movies are for Plex. The NVMEs are where the applications reside and where they store all the system files, databases, caches. You can also use an NVME for a read/write cache for the HDD.

good luck on your awesome system setup.

This deal or $360 on the NASync DH4300 Plus 4 drive for a newbie?
Would like to have a share drive for the AI photo sorting and for being able to access files from all devices. Would also like to set up a Plex. We've got some movies to rip, but I don't know where to find the online how tos on the less moral library building.

I use 2xHDDs for cold storage in RAID1 config for redundancy. They store my personal media (photos, videos, documents, etc) and keep a backup of my phone's photo/video library too. The 4TB Nvme is for my plex media. I could have used HDD for it but I don't want to hear hard drive spinny noise when I'm watching movies. I live in a small apartment so I don't have a basement to bury the NAS lol500GB nvme is where I install all my extra apps and experiments on docker. Could have used the same 4TB nvme for it but it's fine everything has its own separate physical storage now. Docker containers benefit a lot by being on nvme drive rather than hdd. The performance difference is noticeable. So get a 500GB nvme for $30 during black friday, don't put docker on hdd
