What size slam ball is a good beginner who has never used one?

FWIW; very fit, exercise with kettlebells daily, 5'9", slender / wiry 150 lbs.

Any size is going to help. These tend to be used for athletic performance, and not really to build muscle. Think of it like using a basketball that weighs more than it should so that you can become more accurate with a basketball, or as a football lineman that needs to quickly extend his arms to the opposing player by practicing throwing this with 2 hands to someone back and forth.

15 or 20# may be a good starter. once you go above 20# in these, they're larger so it may be tougher to grip them depending on what exercises you're doing.

NP. Just figure out what your goal is. I figure a heavier one that's almost the size of a basketball, after basketball practice, get one the size of a basketball, and practice your form with one. Imagine in a game situation near the end of a game, most players are tired, but since you've been practicing with a weighted ball, your form is still there and you are ready to hit the game winner. Just envision what your goal is and build your workout routine around that.
