bought this when it was on sale for $25, don't really get much without a subscription and you should really get the plug to keep the battery charged, otherwise it will only last a couple weeks
Looks like this is the KEYPAD ONLY, which means if you want it to open and close the garage you also have to purchase the MyQ hub / garage opener separately. Otherwise it simply functions as a camera. For video recording you do need to buy the monthly subscription, which they should give you 1 month free. I already had a ring subscription for the front door before buying this and decided paying for multiple subscriptions was a bit much for me.
I would recommend to make sure you have decent WiFi signal where you install it, or you may have connectivity issues. I put a WiFi extender in my garage and that worked for me. I like it so I can get into my house if I get locked out; if you have Amazon you can also have in garage deliveries by allowing Amazon to temp access your opener to get in (personally don't like the idea but some people I know do) to prevent theft of packages.

mine lasted 3 months before I got the 30% battery left notification and it sits in the sun everyday
