I bought this thing a few months ago, had a lot of issues with the battery. The battery fast discharging, going from 75% down to 0% and my laptop charged barely a few percentage, taking a long time to charge the battery and lastly it sometimes does not charge at all.

I bought same brand, it was dead because of battery drain for no use and cannot be recharged anymore.

This thing fried one of my macbook pro thunderbolt ports. I smelled something burning and yanked it out to find it sparked. I unfortunately only had a cheap usb cable with me while traveling from a deal on an external m.2 enclosure, but still the fact that this thing doesn't have any safeguards makes me worry anytime I use it. I regret the purchase causing more costly damage.

Be aware this may also not be able to be taken on an airplane anymore. Even in carry-on

I can't find any kind of safety certification on the listing. Not UL, ETL, TUV, or any other established verification standard. The listing claims its TSA-compliant, but zero marking of being certificated anywhere. Even using 'Rufus AI' failed to provide anything useful.

You sure that rule applies outside of China? 'Cause I thought U.S. airlines let you bring power banks under 100wh on the plane (carry-on only, not checked).

I think the TSA doesn't need UL certification for power banks, but they do care if it's under 100wh.

I didn't remember the exact number, but I know the regulations recently changed and my 20000 was close to not being allowed. That's why I said *may* not be able to. Some have banned power banks and others won't allow you to put it overhead. Just saying to check before you buy!

I checked the TSA website before I answered you, and the rules for power banks haven't changed yet.

And for some it's not TSA but the airlines themselves. All I'm saying is to check before you buy..... that's it. Not everyone is aware the regulations have been changing.

It's fine:
The general TSA limit for spare lithium-ion batteries and power banks is 100 watt-hours (Wh) or less, which is approximately 27,000 milliamp-hours (mAh). Batteries between 100 Wh and 160 Wh require airline approval, and batteries over 160 Wh are prohibited on flights. All spare lithium batteries must be in carry-on bags, with terminals protected to prevent short-circuits.
Battery Size Limits
  • Under 100 Wh: These batteries are generally allowed in carry-on luggage without special approval.
  • 100 Wh to 160 Wh: You need prior airline approval to carry these batteries, and there's a limit of two per passenger.
  • Over 160 Wh: These are not permitted on flights at all.

That is an FAA / International rule, China, Philippines or even Hicksville where you might be from. Though from my experience, TSA in the US are ignant and don't know or understand this rule so they barely check. But I did get 2 battery packs thrown out when I was in South Corea.
