What's the point of better hardware when they only promise two OS upgrades and four years of security patches?.

I don't know what's it says on the YouTube video, but I just returned this last month because it would not play anything beyond 480p. Netflix, YouTube, fandango at home would not play in HD. It is also not listed on the Netflix HD approved device page.

These have been cheaper at lenovo direct without the sleeve. They don't have these anymore, so this is probably outgoing model.

Your linked page has an overpriced A9+, just search eBay or Walmart, they are less than $200

Why are you people so obsessed with OS upgrades? Are we really pretending that there's some huge difference in usability between OS editions when it's just a tablet?

Got one for $190 at Best Buy for the 128gb version in last year's Thanksgiving sale.
PROs:
- sound from the speakers is great compared to other tablets
- build quality is nice, the stand especially is very useful
CONs:
- the Helio G99 processor is on the slow side and not because of gaming but just for loading pages.
- Display is on the dim side too at 400 nits
- because of the speakers, the back is not flat so cases for it is very limited
- also because of the useful stand, a compatble case will be flimsy and definitely will not last

Overall, I would spend more for a better tablet with a better processor and nicer screen.

They are concerned about security updates partly.

I got this tablet for $200 not long ago. Honestly, people MASSIVELY undersell the speakers and kickstand. Speakers get insanely loud putting most tablet/laptop speakers to shame while packing surprisingly decent bass/treble. Also, the integrated stand is not only built like a tank, it has every angle imaginable making it ultra versatile. It reminds me of my Surface and Switch OLED rock solid kickstands. With both making it probably the ultimate movie watching/music listening tablet unless you are willing to spend 3-4x more money.
Yes, the screen could be brighter and processor could be faster. But honestly as someone who owns it and MANY much more expensive flagship as well as budget devices, they are way better than you'd expect for a $200 tablet. The screen is more than decent for indoor use, and the processor makes lightweight use (social media, web browsing, video watching) pretty snappy and not at all stuttery.
In summary, skip this if you want it for heavy outdoors use or heavy gaming. But for media consumption, I strongly doubt you'll find something better for under $600. I'll take a dimmer screen and weaker processor for those incredible speakers and ultra practical kickstand any day of the week. And no, kickstand cases are nowhere near as good replacement. I've owned many, and nothing gets close.

I bought this, but I have some warnings that keep this tablet from being great. first is the headphone jack is weak, it can power iem and earbuds okay if the iem is easy to drive, but full-size headphones don't get loud. and I can only stream movies at SD resolution, despite having the correct widevine version. SD video is terrible

I mean, 4 years of security updates should be plenty. It's not like you're running a Cloudflare server off this thing.
