not too bad
usa can't sell it's produce overseas
so it's feeding it to animals to add value
thus animal protein prices have dropped.
They reformulated the original and it's basically peppered…big grains of pepper and seasoning.
If you like that, great. If you like original flavored jerky that isn't super spicy, look elsewhere…much better flavors and quality out there.

economically speaking usa is still producing over a billion$ worth of grain that it can no longer export, that's just a fact - it has nothing to do with your politics or patriotism - Silverback.
so the same way hard cheese prices are way down because milk is cheap ($2.5gal whole milk here) jerky prices will fall because common beef cuts are cheap, both because grain we used to export is being fed to cows. cheese and jerky are ways to add value to excess animal protein produced; for domestic consumption and potential export markets.
btw, in case nobody here noticed; sugar cereal prices are crazy cheap now - yet another symptom of a domestic market with too many grains it can no longer export. salt, sugar, flavorings acts like a preservative so it has a longer shelf life than plain cereals, or yet another way to try to add value to excess domestic grains.
