Google.

Not as as in "I'm urging you to Google the answer to your question, rather than personally answering your question", no. It's the actual answer.

Google gives out free numbers. It's at the following site:

looks like a lot of other phones have also been promoted to be 'free with any plan':

Samsung Galaxy A16 5G
Moto G Power 2025
Moto G 2025 64GB
Moto G 2025 128GB
Moto G Power 2024

While a few other notable offers have gone now:
- iPhone 16e now needs 3 months of paid service purchased upfront instead of previous 2 months on unlimited plans
- iPhone 13 is now $49.99 instead of being free with 3 months of paid service on unlimited plans purchased as bundle

As TotalWireless is actually under Verizon network.....Not sure if this model is Verizon variant only or a generic model (same as all other carrier variants). I'm thinking if the phone, by the time unlocked, would have all necessary 5G bands in case used in ATT or TMO network.

It has to be from a non-VZ external provider.

Boost Wireless has first two months for $10/month. Haven't checked if it allows eSIM activation but this is one of the options. https://www.boostmobile.com/shop/...pid=001939 (or) https://www.amazon.com/Boost-Mobi...B0F8FS1VVX for $7 with one-month included.

Of these, Moto G Power 2025 is a good choice. Given Moto's 2-year OS support recommend the 2025 models. Display is better in Power and Stylus compared to the regular ones.
Samsung A16 is good but sluggish. Consolation is better OS support than Moto phones.

Also not sure how the cut off date counts when it comes to unlock policy of 2 month active service. i.e.if it unlocks by day 61 only, then does that mean we are charged for 3 months, essentially?

TW has been requiring it for more than a year if you want the discounted deal. There have been plenty of previous Total Wireless phone deals on SD that have required it - and you will need to find another provider if you don't want to verify ID, there's no way around it with TW.

Yes. Tello is on T-Mobile. I see cheapest plan is $5.

Also for 2nd month recharge, one can use the following option and pay only $25 for the 2nd month service to get the device unlocked:https://www.walmart.com/ip/346580...1871fbdOOS (has been on and off) right now but worth checking when a recharge would be needed later on.
