I've been involved with power tools for 20 years. FLEX is a good product but you need to know the facts. FLEX is owned by Chervon, a Chinese company, that also owns SKIL, EGO and other power tool companies. FLEX has been around for about 5 years now and was aimed squarely @ the mid-high end tier power tool ranges from Milwaukee, Makita and DeWalt. They failed in that mission and have since released less and less tools over the last 2ish years. They are good tools, but are heavy and lack balance in some applications. They are powerful, but that's not always what DIY'ers are looking for. They offer a great warranty and good customer service, but be sure to register your tools within 30 days of purchase and have the receipt ready to upload when you do.
The outlook for the brand is uncertain. Some folks think Lowes is dropping the FLEX line completely in 2026, others think this is a way FLEX is clearing out old age inventory and battery's, hence the fire sale pricing. What I know is this...the last time I saw a Big Box store do this, they dropped the line of power tools completely, so be forewarned. If Lowes drops FLEX, that would leave them an online brand only and I don't think they would continue in the USA. I wish I had a concrete answer for you to make a good decision, but I don't. I think we will know more the closer we get to the end of 2025.

I think Kobalt is the Ridgid of Lowe's. Flex is a step above both, and nearly on par with DeWalt and Milwaukee.

on a tool to tool basis Flex matches up with and even outclassed Dewalt and Milwaukee on numerous occasions. The above drill and impact are not their top tier drills but comparing the brand as a whole as closer to Ridgid is unselling it quite a bit.
Plenty of instances of RIDGID doing the same thing against the big boys too. Particularly in HT impact wrench and multi tool. Flex has some of those same instances for sure. Point is kobalt and the other brands never come close to the big guys. Occasionally flex and RIDGID do. But Flex isn't Milwaukee. Both Flex and RIDGID are DIY brands

Thx for the insight. I was wondering if this was an indicator of their future as well.
Flex power tools come with a lifetime warranty on both the tool and the battery. I'm not entirely sure how that would work if Lowe's stops carrying them, but I'd bet Lowe's would likely exchange it for another brand, similar to what they did when they discontinued Porter-Cable products years ago.

Fire sale like this at Lowe's usually indicates Flex is on the way out. They did the same thing with every brand before they dropped them. I went to Lowe's and the Flex tool cabinet was almost empty. That only means one thing: they are about to go.

It is a steal. I work with just about all tool brands. Flex tools are smoother, more efficient, and more powerful than similar DeWALT or Milwaukee. There is also no comparison with battery efficiency and power provided, particularly with their stacked lithium. None of these tools are USA manufactured. The biggest drawback for the Flex is that they do not offer as many tools as DeWALT. If you are looking for the best for drilling, impacting, and basic cutting you cannot go wrong with Flex. There warranty is also currently the best hands down.

In for 1. I have Milwaukee for everything. Use the M12 line for my drill/driver, refuse to purchase the M18 version because of the cost, this should hold me over if the M12 isn't enough.

I asked Gemini

> Flex was founded in Germany back in 1922 owned by Chevron, and like Milwaukee, which is owned by a Chinese parent company—TTI Group.
> Meanwhile, Makita stands out as one of the few major power tool brands that remains independently owned and headquartered in Japan.

I will add to this. I think Lowes might be dumping Flex but I don't think Flex is leaving USA market. Flex expanded to physical store (fasterner inc) besides online presence such as Amazon. I bought my Flex tools from Lowes, Acme, then later Amazon and fasterner inc. I've been buying Flextools since 2023 when my Ryobi HP brushless tools had trouble dealing with thick oak, 20 to 40+ years of old 2 inch thick redwood boards in yard. I am not a contractor, just a DIYer, fix/maintain house and cars when I can. I buy whatever is on sale/clearance that fits my need. Since 2022, I bought Ryobi, Makita, Dewalt, Milwaukee (12v & 18V), Bosch (12V & 18V), Flex, and one Hercules tool (cordless bandsaw). I've been loading up on Flex since last black Friday from local fastener, inc. physical store. They offered buy 1, trade 1, get 1 free Flex tool. I trade my extra Bosch tools for flex tools since they will not take my extra Ryobi tools

If you want to consolidate all tools into one battery platform then Flex is definitely not for you. I prefer Milwaukee M12 line for its power and compact size. Flex drill/impact driver/saw is heavy but generally perform well (project farm, torque test channel, VCG showing Flex sawzall has less vibration than Milwaukee M18 fuel sawzal, etc.) Tool Box Buzz (concord carpenter youtube channel) generally found Flex saws (circular, table saw) to be very accurate and tend to rank near the top. Flex earned best cordless table saw and rear handle circular saw overall.

I recall I was concerned about Flex future and looked into Chervon a year ago when I noticed some of my local Lowes reduced Flex shelf space, some Lowes still had the same amount of Flex shelf space. Chervon tools division revenue decreased in 2022, 2023, increased in 2024, revenue decreased against in 2025 by 2.5%. However, in 2025, Chervon's North America and Europe revenue increased by 17.9% and 4% respectively. I will provide the link below for my source of information. You need to google translate
https://content.etnet.com.hk/cont...85#results

My guess is Flex America might suffer less Lowes presence and expand to other retailers. I also think Trump tariff wrecked havoc on tools inventory (my local Milwaukee rep told me corporate is holding off on promotion plan due to tariff about 2 months ago when I asked them about any good upcoming labor day Milwaukee days, etc.) but probably more so with Flex as I notice my dewalt tool was made in Mexico, my Bosch tools were made in Malaysia, Hungary, etc. My Milwaukee was made in Vietnam and China. My flex tools were all made in China.

As far as I know, retailers wants to make a profit. They can increase the margin (difficult with so many people struggling), or increase the volume by lower the price. I hate to say it, Some of my Bosch and Flex tools I bought in the past 3 years from Lowes were full of dust. Granted I have a preference for sales or clearance item purchase to reduce my cost but I found one of my Bosch combo tools kit had a shipping receiving label that was 4 years ago, it had a month, year, and gate or something label on the box I purchased from Lowes. For the past 2-3 weeks, some of my Flex tools boxes were very dusty, you touch it, your palm gets black type of dusty. That indicates Flex is not selling well, most likely due to its high price and new battery platform.

solid stuff. basically the Ridgid of Lowes. Craftsman is their Ryobi
I think Kobalt is the Ridgid of Lowe's. Flex is a step above both, and nearly on par with DeWalt and Milwaukee.
Kobalt are toys. Ridgid and Flex are both above Kobalt, Craftsman, Ryobi. Ridgid and Flex are both below Milwaukee and Dewalt. If you're saying Flex is better than Ridgid thats ok. But Flex is closer to Ridgid than Milwaukee. The proof is the $89 price point on Flex. Can't buy anything Ridgid with 2 batteries and 2 tools for under $200
I don't own a lot of tools and only borrowed and used some tools from friends and neighbors. I buy whatever is on sale, which include Milwaukee M12, M18, Bosch 12V, 18V, Dewalt 20V, Makita 18V, Ridgid 18V (I have more ridgid batteries than any of my other platforms as I own over 10 Ridigid Maximum output 4AH batteries, 2 6AH Max Output batteries to power my ridgid tools such as blower, etc.) I trust project farm, tool box buzz tool review. Torque test channel also does pretty good objective test. You might want to watch/read some of those videos & articles. They explain their test methodology and how they rank. Generally speaking Flex tools can compete with Milwaukee and Dewalt in terms of performance, it's just quite heavy. I will provide some links for you to read/watch if you are interested to see how some people/organization test tools and rank them.

Project Farm best hammer drill (flex ranked #1, June 2025)

Tool Box Buzz best impact driver (2023, flex was below Milwaukee dewalt and Makita)

Tool Box Buzz/concord carpenter best cordless sawzall (Nov 2022, flex was best overall )

People on here two or three years ago were speculating that Lowe's was going to drop Metabo HPT when they clearanced a ton of their lineup. Lowe's still sells Metabo.

Deals like this are a great way to get people started investing in a tool brand. You're more likely to buy more Flex tools if you have some already.

They are good. I feel they are powerful and seem durable. They are a little heavier and not as ergonomic as Makita for me, but if tou dont use it a lot, this should not be a problem.
