I've been involved with power tools for 20 years. FLEX is a good product but you need to know the facts. FLEX is owned by Chervon, a Chinese company, that also owns SKIL, EGO and other power tool companies. FLEX has been around for about 5 years now and was aimed squarely @ the mid-high end tier power tool ranges from Milwaukee, Makita and DeWalt. They failed in that mission and have since released less and less tools over the last 2ish years. They are good tools, but are heavy and lack balance in some applications. They are powerful, but that's not always what DIY'ers are looking for. They offer a great warranty and good customer service, but be sure to register your tools within 30 days of purchase and have the receipt ready to upload when you do.
The outlook for the brand is uncertain. Some folks think Lowes is dropping the FLEX line completely in 2026, others think this is a way FLEX is clearing out old age inventory and battery's, hence the fire sale pricing. What I know is this...the last time I saw a Big Box store do this, they dropped the line of power tools completely, so be forewarned. If Lowes drops FLEX, that would leave them an online brand only and I don't think they would continue in the USA. I wish I had a concrete answer for you to make a good decision, but I don't. I think we will know more the closer we get to the end of 2025.

I think Kobalt is the Ridgid of Lowe's. Flex is a step above both, and nearly on par with DeWalt and Milwaukee.

on a tool to tool basis Flex matches up with and even outclassed Dewalt and Milwaukee on numerous occasions. The above drill and impact are not their top tier drills but comparing the brand as a whole as closer to Ridgid is unselling it quite a bit.
I agree

People on here two or three years ago were speculating that Lowe's was going to drop Metabo HPT when they clearanced a ton of their lineup. Lowe's still sells Metabo.

Deals like this are a great way to get people started investing in a tool brand. You're more likely to buy more Flex tools if you have some already.
Totally agree

These drills any good? How are the rest of their cordless tools? I'm looking to move to a single manufacturer cordless tool set from my hodge podged corded/cordless ones
They are good. I feel they are powerful and seem durable. They are a little heavier and not as ergonomic as Makita for me, but if tou dont use it a lot, this should not be a problem.
I've had them all, team Yellow, team Red, Festool, Hilti and even some random Parkside stuff. Makita is the only brand that I really feel works in my application. No other power tool has been as comfortable, refined or reliable for my workflow. The Makita XGT stuff has no equal in my opinion because it balances huge power with lightweight efficiency. I currently have Milwaukee M12/M18, FLEX and Makita LXT/XGT. I reach for Makita for 90% of my work scope. You can preach all you want about having the most power and brute force and there IS a time and place for that...but as you age, you just want light, efficient, balanced tools that save you time and Makita is the only brand that does that for me. It's a shame they aren't good at marketing here because the brand is huge outside of the USA.

Interesting discussion. What is the consensus on Hercules power tools at Harbor Freight? Their warranty has recently caught my eye.

Kobalt are toys. Ridgid and Flex are both above Kobalt, Craftsman, Ryobi. Ridgid and Flex are both below Milwaukee and Dewalt. If you're saying Flex is better than Ridgid thats ok. But Flex is closer to Ridgid than Milwaukee. The proof is the $89 price point on Flex. Can't buy anything Ridgid with 2 batteries and 2 tools for under $200

False

Flex = Milwaukee
Kobalt = Ridgid
Skil = Ryobi

solid stuff. basically the Ridgid of Lowes. Craftsman is their Ryobi

Compare the original prices, this is like a clearance out price. Lowe's may no longer carry Flex tools, at least that's what the grapevine says..? But to use this pricing as a basis to support the quality of their tools just goes to show your lack of knowledge, no offense, Im just trying to be real..

Disclaimer, I only own one cordless hercules tool, which is the deep cut band saw. I paid $100 for the saw, 5AH battery + charger. I paid another $17 for the saw blade. For $117, you can't beat that price. It has a lot of plastic, compare to my Bosch 18V deep cut bandsaw or my Flex 24V compact band saw. Both my Bosch and Flex saws come with free blade, not Hercules. Based on project farm, tinker with tools, torque test channel youtube channels tests, I think Hercules is a very cost effective solution. The comfort level of using Hercules tools seem to be below Miwaukee, Dewalt, Makita, etc. but if that's not a huge concern, Hercules is a good choice.

An auto garage channel shares his experience of Hercules tool, after spending a lot of money on tool truck tools. He thinks Hercules is a good choice
https://youtu.be/TZT-xME-dRY?si=BcvBqp9D-AZsx6qq

Project farm ranked Hercules 3rd overall in most recent impact driver test. You can see Hercules impact driver vibrates is pretty bad, below average in the impact drivers tested. However, it shines in other areas.
https://youtu.be/bI889qvShvk?si=MCtRsEk1DPe4QWxt

Project Farm's most recent cordless drill test ranked Hercules a bit below average

For woodworking, you can take a look at this person's opinion
https://youtu.be/eTrdYA-n6SI?si=nzgxoLG447Zuew9B
He likes the drill given the price, but he did not recommend it purely due to the fact that Hercules cordless tool ecosystem is small compare to Ryobi, Makita, etc. If you want to stick to just one battery platform, that could be a concern.

Personally, if my budget is tight and I can't wait for clearance or fire sale (like this flex deal) for tools, I probably will pick hercules over Ryobi, if I don't plan on stick to just one battery platform. I have a neighbor who buys a lot of Bauer and Hercules tools. He comes and borrow my better tools (especially my Makita 16ga nailer over his bauer nailer when he needs to replace his MDF baseboard) sometimes when his Bauer or Hercules tool struggles with more demanding work.

Another advantage Hercules have over my more expensive tools such as Flex, Bosch, Milwaukee, Makita, dewalt, etc. is I can leave my Hercules tool outside without worry about people stealing it. Even if they do, it's fairly cheap to replace it.

Have you tried Bosch 12V system? I like my Bosch 12V systems, fairly smooth in general (drill, sander) if you are not in a hurry or need a lot of power. I don't own any Makita 12V tools but I think Bosch 12V tools are probably a bit more heavy. They are generally fairly well built though.

Hercules is firmly in the "prosumer" mid tier along the same lines as Ridgid and Kobalt. They make some powerful tools that can crack leaderboards on stuff like Torque Test Channel, but they lack the finesse and features you get from the real pro tier tools. Stuff like trigger feel, vibration, size and weight is never much of a priority for them as much as looking good on YouTube. Ridgid is probably the closest to them in performance and cost, but the problem with Ridgid is that it's never allowed to be the best. If Ridgid releases a tool that's better than Milwaukee, they almost instantly discontinue it. If ridgid has a tool in the pipeline and Milwaukee realizes they don't have one that can compete with it, they steal it and paint it red before it's launched. Ridgid is always kneecapped by Milwaukee. Hercules doesn't have that problem as they're the flagship tool brand for harbor freight. As Hercules improves (and they have been rapidly improving) there's no cap to how good they can be like there is with Ridgid. The Hercules warranty is also probably the best in the business right now. Take it to the counter of any harbor freight and they swap it out. No shipping the tool out and waiting for repairs, the only down time is the time it takes you to get to a harbor freight. I say this all as someone who bought into Ridgid a while ago and has been jealously side eyeing Hercules for the last couple of years. If I was rebuying all of my tools today they'd probably be Hercules.
