No it doesn't work perfectly on heavy wet mid-fall or early spring snow. Does it work on average to dry snow from Dec-Feb in the upper states? Absolutely
I used a Greenworks? corded for about 10 yrs (after 10 yrs of manual shovelling!) and after it died switched to this one and used it for 2 years before switching to an Ego 2 stage.
This will even work on plowed street snow -- so long as you break it up with a flat steel blade shovel. Ideal? No? Not heart-attack inducing like shoveling by hand? Absolutely
And this one is metal auger frame with multi-layer reinforced rubber/nylon for the paddles. This means this will not shatter the first large ice chunk / asphalt chunk you hit that the plow leaves in your driveway entrance. So many of the <$200 1 stagers only use plastic now.
For $76 this is not a bad deal at all. $200+ it would be bad.
I've used it every year except one since (Virginia winters are hit or miss), and I've never had an issue with it clearing anything 8-in or less, including a few wet heavy snows.
It's not self-propelled, so you can't have spaghetti arms, and the chute clogs somewhat frequently (spray lubricant helps), but anyone that says this is harder than shovelings 6-8 inches of show is on drugs or has never shoveled snow. UNLESS they've made some major changes since 2016.
It's also not two-stage, so you have to temper your expectations - you may have to clear a few feet, back it off if it starts to bog, and then re-approach. Finally, if you get more than 6-8-in of snow at a time, you'll have to clear every few hours and not wait until you've got 18in on the driveway, but that's common sense. And if you're regularly getting that much snow, you live in WV or New England and likely already have a nice two-stage gas blower anyway.
EDIT: I paid $140 in 2016, so like 1.5 Million in today's dollars. This is a helluva deal at under $80.

the quality is definitely flimsy. I bought my first one (same model) about 3.5 years ago. within that time, I had to replace the auger belt once, and now the pulley system is worn out (bolt just spins inside the cheap plastic pulley).
considering relatively light Chicago weather we've had in recent years, I would say I got "2 full seasons" of use out of it.
I paid 200 dollars for it, and at that price, no way... but to get 2 years for 75 bucks - I will take that all day long over gas. that's 750 dollars over 20 years with basically 0 maintenance, and plenty of spare parts in case of failure... yes pls!
I have a 36 inch push shovel from home depot that works amazingly well for that type of snow, and I can clear my 150 ft driveway/circle drive within 30 min with very little effort.
It is not faster than shoveling but way easier on your body.
I'm not sure why there are so many negative reviews. It won't operate as well as a gas powered one....so perhaps they are comparing apples to oranges?
taking the pulley out, adding 'slits' in the plastic, and bracing it with some thin steel support will make it mostly last forever for less than 10 bucks.
agreed though, the pulley is trash, and the general quality of the overall product is cheap (like the price!)
WIth roughly 225' of driveway, I appreciated how much it saved my back. It didn't really save me any time, though.
Also, be sure to factor in the need for a quality extension cord that can handle 15 amps, or you will stress and possibly burn out the motor. I was pretty fortunate to have a semi-circular driveway with power at the top, so 100' was good for the job.
