Great price on a nice little processor. Even cheaper than the recent Prime Deals. Perfect for upgrading a 1000 or 2000 series chip to get Windows 11 support. Just check for a bios update to make sure it supports this processor. This is a 5600G with the graphics disabled and not a slower version of a 5600x so it shares the limitations of the 5600g. Primarily a smaller L2 cache and PCI-E gen 3 support. The PCI-E support is not likely to be an issue when upgrading a Zen 1 chip due to the MB not supporting it either. The L2 cache will have an impact in some situations, probably most commonly gaming. Otherwise this is a zen 3 chip and should beat the 3000 or 4000 series chips.

Has anyone had success getting a price match from other retailers on these micro center deals?

Better memory controller than 5600x and monolithic, but you need fast ram and b450 or higher mobo to bring out its full potential where it approaches 5600 performance, if you're on b350 it won't go past 3400. Lowest aida latency I got on b350 was 68, seen people get it to 45-50 on later am4 platforms on overclock forums. ymmv

Any reason to upgrade 1800x to this? Pairing with 2060 super. I do have 1440p monitor.

It's not the biggest upgrade because you are going down from 8 core to 6 cores but I'd expect the 5500 to be faster all around and is officially supported for Windows 11 if that's something you care about.

Best Buy won't do it because it's priced too low. I tried last night. The system won't let them.

Yes. Clocks higher and stronger Core.

It uses only half the power compared to the 5600, especially at idle.😅

These are likely clearance sales... so you would need to check used markets for lower prices later.
