This Metro Razr 2024 deal is mainly about a cheap foldable with a one year Metro lock and eSIM activation. The strongest upside is the price, with multiple orders going through around $65 or even $35 for a second line, and the phone can be used on Wi Fi or as a secondary device while waiting. Community testing also points to a possible unlock path on some Android 14 units, especially older November 2024 builds. The main catches are frequent stock and checkout failures, plus many reports that newer Android 15 or March 2025 units stay locked or hit server errors. A good fit if you are comfortable with the wait and the activation hassle.

The old version of the app might be glitched and say it's unlocked but it's not actually. Alternatively, T-Mobile might have left out some IMEI numbers and triggering the unlock process worked.
I think the two people claiming that it works should show proof of another SIM working.

It's just patched on modern devices/updates. The Metro 2023 Motorola slate is all screwed, but most of the 24 ones are fixed.
The only thing that relies on an unlocked bootloader/root is the 'RElock the phone to all carriers - it's still SIM locked, but it's SIM locked to all possible carriers' thing - which no one is talking about here.

To quote from two posts of mine
"There is an actual unlock exploit for the Metro Motorolas of that specific era - running that old security update. There was a way to forge a request - it relied on the device unlock 'app' not enforcing SSL certificate pinning and the 'valid unlock request' data not being correctly validated to prevent a malformed response from being accepted. There are multiple vendors selling 'T-Mobile/Metro Pcs Instant Unlock Via Proxy' for like $5. Just involves loading a proxy on the device and hitting unlock.

"Chimera Tool can handle this phone as of update 44.44.2201 but it's an expensive, paid tool and I do not know anyone who is offering a Chimera unlock as a service and it's a bit of a pain in the ass to do - you have to bootloader unlock the phone, root it, do the relock, flash it back to Motorola stock and lock the bootloader again. After that, it's unlocked."
If any of the ones I get today are on the right update version, I will run them against the Motorola proxy unlock tool and report back.

The unlock method itself has nothing to do with 'server access'. That's just a badly engineered free tool doing unnecessary things that add both complexity and unreliablity.
