This Metro Razr 2024 deal is mainly about a cheap foldable with a one year Metro lock and eSIM activation. The strongest upside is the price, with multiple orders going through around $65 or even $35 for a second line, and the phone can be used on Wi Fi or as a secondary device while waiting. Community testing also points to a possible unlock path on some Android 14 units, especially older November 2024 builds. The main catches are frequent stock and checkout failures, plus many reports that newer Android 15 or March 2025 units stay locked or hit server errors. A good fit if you are comfortable with the wait and the activation hassle.

Nothing new. We may have to wait a year as originally expected.

I have a feeling it's just straight up patched on the Jan 2025 update. There was only one user here that said they were able to unlock on the Jan update. Maybe they were mistaken or something. No one else has been able to under the same circumstances. And I havent seen anyone on the 2024 updates say anything about getting the server issue error. Will probably just use one of those unlock websites and pony up the $60. I was able to do that for the boost mobile Motorola edge 2023+ on SD earlier this year.

Also curious if anyone else besides shortyman24 has successfully unlocked it. As I posted on one of these threads a couple of days ago, I was able to use the tool to unlock several T-Mobile locked Edge 2024 including one that had been updated to the latest build!. I don't know how ToolUnlock-mOTOROLA works. Maybe the original author has an explanation.

Guys the unlock method isn't real. The unlock process requires a signed request using a key that only T-Mobile has. The process is forwarded and verified at the modems firmware level. This also isn't something an unlocked bootloader can solve.

The old version of the app might be glitched and say it's unlocked but it's not actually. Alternatively, T-Mobile might have left out some IMEI numbers and triggering the unlock process worked.

I think the two people claiming that it works should show proof of another SIM working.

There is an actual unlock exploit for the Metro Motorolas of that specific era - running that old security update. There was a way to forge a request - it relied on the device unlock 'app' not enforcing SSL certificate pinning and the 'valid unlock request' data not being correctly validated to prevent a malformed response from being accepted. There are multiple vendors selling 'T-Mobile/Metro Pcs Instant Unlock Via Proxy' for like $5. Just involves loading a proxy on the device and hitting unlock.

It's just patched on modern devices/updates. The Metro 2023 Motorola slate is all screwed, but most of the 24 ones are fixed.

The only thing that relies on an unlocked bootloader/root is the 'RElock the phone to all carriers - it's still SIM locked, but it's SIM locked to all possible carriers' thing - which no one is talking about here.

Have you updated? If not, can I ask you to pull some APKs for me using ADB?

If the server access is patched, I highly doubt it will matter, let us know anyway!

The unlock method itself has nothing to do with 'server access'. That's just a badly engineered free tool doing unnecessary things that add both complexity and unreliablity.

To quote from two posts of mine

"There is an actual unlock exploit for the Metro Motorolas of that specific era - running that old security update. and

"Chimera Tool can handle this phone as of update 44.44.2201 but it's an expensive, paid tool and I do not know anyone who is offering a Chimera unlock as a service and it's a bit of a pain in the ass to do - you have to bootloader unlock the phone, root it, do the relock, flash it back to Motorola stock and lock the bootloader again. After that, it's unlocked."

If any of the ones I get today are on the right update version, I will run them against the Motorola proxy unlock tool and report back.
