I've had plenty of moto phones in the past and I like the idea of using a "mid range" phone as my daily driver so I don't have to care as much about beating it up. But I have an S22 Ultra currently and I swear I will never buy another phone with curved edges on the display. It provides no benefit whatsoever and causes nothing but problems with gesture based navigation which seems to be the direction google is sticking with for android. Makes the phone easier to scratch/break, lessens the protectiveness of cases, and makes it all but impossible to find good tempered glass screen protectors.

If moto just made this phone with a normal damn screen I'd jump on it in a second.

What kind of weekend cruiser cell phone do you use for special occasions?

I use a potato and some wires and make my own radio when I want to be thrifty and cruise the weekend.

For those curious (which is likely very few), I love my $40 Motorola Edge 2024 for using with my RayNeo Air 3s glasses. Glasses are OLED 1080p/120hz capable and the Edge 2024 outputs this no problem (Type-C port (USB 3.1 | DisplayPort 1.4 Support). My Samsung S25 Ultra with Dex only does 60hz max, which is artificially limited by Samsung which is simply ridiculous.

So far as I can tell, every 2025 Motorola has opted for USB 2.0 speed ports, which also means no DP 1.4 output. I have no idea why this was the choice, as Motorola's Dex like utility (Smart Connect) is actually pretty darn good.

For those that use this for that feature, you're better off snagging a 2024, used or new. I love mine for Moonlight game streaming and watching movies/YouTube in bed while the wife sleeps.

It's a pass for me since I prefer Snapdragon chips in my Android phones.

I found this post because the battery life on my Pixel 6A has been terrible ever since Google pushed out an update. I'm considering getting a 9A or the Moto Edge 2025 for free on a T-Mobile upgrade contract, but getting a 2024 for $40 sounds a lot better. Do you mind sharing the website where I can purchase one for that price?

I love my moto edge 2023 that Ive got with genesis. I have only a simple rubbery slim case, didn't put any screen protector... of course it felt from the roof with the screen on the concrete flor while I was using it as light to change one bulb at night (and another several times ((its funny how the glass always finds its way to the first contact) ) and funny enough it has still not even a scratch

Should have specified: the $40 was from a deal maybe 6-7 months ago, so during tariff shenanigans but we're clearly in the midst of even more with even more screwed up supply lines.

Current best price for the 2024 looks for be $110 with 2 months of service (https://slickdeals.net/f/18681115-motorola-edge-2024-free-with-2-months-5g-plan-or-higher-no-id-check?src=frontpage)
