It wasn't that bad. I've seen a lot of worse movies in the theater lately. So I would give it a 6 or a B-. The visuals and audio were very impressive in IMAX 3D and it had a lot of action even if the story itself wasn't that good and Jared isn't the best choice. It's one of those movies people should see in IMAX 3D just for the experience.

In my opinion, Tron Ares is no worse than your average Marvel movie these days and at least Tron Ares knows "its lane" and doesn't try to be funny and fail like Marvel movies. I enjoyed it more than the Captain America Harrison Ford hulk one or the last 2 Venoms.

It's definitely a flop. There wasn't a market for this. It's crazy that they even made this movie. Tron: Legacy flopped, too. There's just a small, but very vocal fanbase, that made it seem like people really wanted another Tron. It also didn't help that they cast Jared Leto.

Code worked, thank you OP. Going to see it a second time. The IMAX experience really leveled up the movie. I'm a long time Tron fan, so I loved every minute of this film.

It wasn't bad at all. It is not great by any means but watchable at least once.

That said, a good portion of the action was shown in the trailer.

My god - it's THAT bad?
Seriously people - the modern bar is so colossally bad. Just go watch movies from the 80's and 90's like Stand By Me, Bladerunner, Aliens, or something and tell me there is ANYTHING coming out of Hollywood that isn't just outright cinematic vomit.
It's probably why I quit going to movies - and I used to love going to new movies every week.
Agreed, I have been going back with my kids and watching older movies from 60s, 70s and 80s, the acting is so much better and not the overdose of CGI. Movies have a plot and good twist or have beautiful cinematography. Very few movies today can barely keep your attention for 10 minutes let alone 90 or 120. Tried new Superman and it was just blah. Even my wife said the original Supermans were so much better. Just my two cents. I'm sure I will watch the new Tron when it comes to streaming.

I went to see the movie on Saturday. It wasn't THAT bad. It was fine imo. Maybe a 7.5/10.

I'm a big Tron fan, to the point where I have an autographed photo I got at a sci-fi convention featuring a character from the first movie.

I loved the first one, would give the 2nd one a 6, and would give this one a 7. The only thing I felt was truly missing was someone showing up at the end at a very pivotal moment and yelling "I fight for the user!" I watched it for 6 bucks at the local theater last Thursday afternoon, first showing.

I watch a lot movies, liked Legacy, I liked this one better. I'm surprised you heard it was really bad. The critic score isn't great but not terrible (55%) but the audience score is high (86%). I saw it with 10 people and we all really enjoyed. It was in imax as well so defn jump on this deal.

**** what the critics have to say. 'Tron: Ares' was EASILY one of my personal favorite movie-going experiences of the year, as it's truly a cinematic, sonic and visual MASTERPIECE. So much so that I saw it twice this weekend. And that's coming from somebody who didn't care for the original OR 'Legacy' (found them a bit too corny and cheesy)...

But it's not perfect. And the writing/story is still its achilles heel.
I like how you did not even include the name of the critic

The critics are overly critically of the movie. This is no Dune Part 2 but it's a fantastic add-on for the Tron series. Visually and audibly stunning - story is shallow but it's fine considering the previous ones weren't strong story-wise either. Fun and entertaining movie for sure.

Still works. Don't forget everyone that there's a convenience fee so you aren't getting 7 off. More like ~4.50 off.

Anything Jared Leto is awful.
Jared basically had a slicked back mullet in the movie.

its a decent scifi action movie, that happens to be in the tron universe. They don't get into Tron lore/philosophy at all. Its a steady flow of action with a really simplistic storyline.
