These are exactly the same dumbells as the CAP branded ones. The handles are thicker on 15 lbs and up dumbells than on the lower 10 and 5 lb dumbells. I notice this causes an issue with my grip strength giving out before my arm strength does on heavier weights. They will smell like new tires for a while but the smell will go away eventually. They also usually have a light oil that needs to be cleaned off that keeps them from rusting in the warehouse FYI
