Electrical engineer here. The temperature (energy) required to cause these to explode is considerably higher than these get. The temperature to cause damage is actually pretty close to what a lot of these electric handwarmers advertise to achieve though. This is why they usually only advertise a maximum temperature of around 130F, this gives a sufficient safety factor. Good designs will have layers of protection to prevent any thermal run away situations. Up to you to decide if $8 mass produced Chinese electronics meet that criteria.

I'm a mail carrier and our mail trucks effectively don't have heat so I've become pretty familiar with products like this that can help get me through a route...these can be quite handy when you really need em.

What is with the hand warmer obsession right now? I know winter is coming but I don't remember these dominating the front past last year.

Probably not an obsession - just that sellers are looking to move product and paying SD to place these on FP.

I wonder if there is some type of shill product consortium that determines what Chinese no name product to peddle here next. Let's see, we had wall lights, outdoor fence / tree lights, cabinet lights, neck fans, and now hand warmers? I know I'm missing some others.
lol. The neck fans one was strange. I'm just wondering how these posts get so many upvotes. Battery hand warmers have utility, but is this actually a good deal? A good brand?

I've always wondered if having lipoly batteries next to heat sources was not an incredibly bad idea since they are the most explody version of lithium batteries
Lipo batteries become dangerous around temperatures above 140°. Much higher than what the temperature is of these hand warmers heat to. And the heating element is probably attached to aluminum heat sinks that acts like a radiator, which dissipate the heat faster than it can ever get to 140° and the batteries is probably on the opposite side of the circuit board which separates that from the heating element. The people that designed this stuff aren't that stupid they didn't mount the heating element to the battery I'm sure.

those are generics, i bought https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0DBXYFMCL for around $7.99 over a year ago and they work great and i recommend them. the heat is often absrobed by your body before it damages the battery (I hope)
so the U UZOPI brand in your link are the absolute originals? Ha Ha. They are all made by the same manufacturers in China and then companies buy them and put their name on them. There is no original. Just slight variations.

I bought these. Terrible. They only heat up on one side. No heat felt on the other side. So you are either heating your fingertips, or palm, but never both. Not worth the $10.

Ocoopa is a reputable brand that's been around. Mine has a 5200 mAh battery, so I think the OP runs on the low side.

I wouldn't bet on it. China's a (very) large country. There are over 100 EV manufacturers for example. Something basic like this, who knows? And how many are designed to look like a penguin?

People that work in manufacturing or shipping/recieving use both daily. For instance, the people bringing every single post on SD to your door.
