CO stays closer to the floor, smoke rises. So you want different placement for each for quickest detection and alarm.

I don't think this is the area where you want to be skimping on. Yes they are all made in china but you kinda want some quality control on your CO detectors. And a company that will do that because they can be sued if they kill a bunch of people.

EDIT: checked the manufacturer's product page and the manual and there is no indication of any 3rd party testing of this device anywhere.
This is Chinese junk. Don't trust your life with this thing.
