  • Connect the main Thruster W6B unit to an open RJ45 Ethernet port on your existing internet router; then connect the other included Thruster W6B satellite unit to the RJ45 ethernet port on your gaming console, PC or laptop. The two Thruster W6B units then connect wirelessly to one another (over Wi-Fi 6E) to create a dedicated wireless bridge between your router and console/computer (vs. connecting your console/computer to the Wi-Fi signal emitted directly from your router that is being shared with other connected Wi-Fi devices in the household). Note: Each Thruster W6B unit requires its own included DC power cable/adapter to be plugged in to a standard power socket/outlet as well.

These actually do work, I have a similar one for usage in bedroom. Very stable, and also download speed matches what I paid for

I've been having a similar experience (using this exact model). I'm sure results will vary from person to person and may not work for others at all; but personally speaking, I used to get 400-500 Mbps down / 120-150 Mbps up and average 26ms ping before on my gaming PC connected to a Wi-Fi 6 mesh node across the hall. It's impossible to run a network cable to that room or put the PC in the same room as the node, so I couldn't run hardwired. After connecting one of these to the main router downstairs and the other unit to the gaming PC upstairs, I now routinely see 850-900Mbps down, ~300 Mbps up, ping usually between 11-16ms. I've only had them for coming up on a week, though; so I can't speak for long term results. My plan is 1 Gig fiber.

I only bought this because there was a 15% regional coupon last week + the item is eligible for free returns, then noticed the 20% coupon today, so decided to post since the lowest I see elsewhere is $35.88 (via Walmart) It was cheaper than replacing my router and mesh node (the current mesh system uses MoCA, and there's no coax outlet in the room where the gaming PC is located, so I couldn't simply add another MoCA node in there).

An important thing is that they do have an ability now to be used as a 6e access point (its not well documented) or as an exclusive 6e link to a Quest VR headset.

Only a few years ago they were trying to sell them at $300 so this is a blowout.

Good to know. Thanks and repped. I'll look into it, assuming it requires a firmware flash to both units?

https://w6b.local/ is the admin page

Mine came with current firmware. I haven't tested it other than to see that it does actually put up a 6e access point and you can connect to it.

Thanks again, hellonwheelz I greatly appreciate it.

EDIt: Got it. I had the latest firmware installed also (you can check for updates under the admin page). Log in via the Admin page, click the three horizontal lines icon at the top-left, click "Wireless Settings."
Under SSID Settings, set it to Enabled. It will broadcast the Wi-Fi name (SSID) that's listed there (which you can rename, and change the password to, if desired). The Thruster unit seems to strictly have only Wi-Fi 6e bands (no WiFi 6, AC, or older support), as far as I can see. You won't be able to wirelessly connect any device that isn't Wi-Fi 6e capable to the Thruster unit's Wi-Fi signal. My Wi-Fi 6e capable phone could "see" the Thruster's Wi-Fi SSID and connect. My Wi-Fi 6 capable phone (and other non-6e capable devices) couldn't pick up the Thruster's SSID. None of this tinkering affected the connection to my PC, because that's connected via Ethernet cable to the Thruster unit (except for briefly, when I used the admin page to reboot the Thruster units after saving the changes I made to the SSID name and password).
