"A) Not my call. B) If you're a real fan, you'll find a way to make it happen. My local game store had Starflight for Sega Genesis for $80 in 1991 when I was just out of high school working minimum wage at an ice cream parlor in Pismo Beach and I found a way to make it happen."
i think 80$ is absurd for a game now in my mid 40s... but growing up in the 80s, he ain't wrong... video games/console prices are about the only thing that hasn't kept up with inflation.
Then I saw 20% off after the bug fix patch and thought "hmm now I'm interested" and ...its frickin MSRP??? People paid $70 for this??? Lol no way. I'll wait til EPIC gives it away.
The Irony is that in retrospect I woulda paid $70 for Expedition 33. 70$ for a game thats universal praise is "meh its alright you still like Borderlands."? No.

It also doesn't help that Randy Pitchford, CEO of Gearbox, has been an absolute twat on social media regarding Borderlands 4, going so far as to say that it's a premium game for premium gamers.

The market for games has changed a lot since then. In the 80s, so few people bought games that they has to charge more to make it profitable. But in this era where most households have a console, a computer, and or a phone or tablet, games are able to reach 10s of millions of people. This os especially true from established franchises. They can make more from volume, than trying to do what they did in the 80s and selling just a few units for a lot.
