China stuffs are cheap not (at least mostly not) because of their labor. It's the manufacturing industry being so powerful (I.e. the machines and automation) and the transportation and supply chain being so advanced (infrastructure).

1. I have some business ordering stuff from Shenzhen. America made stuff is run by high school graduates or veterans who has no idea what we are asking for nor can remotely meet our qualifications and want $100 per hour. Our Chinese partners are full of Ivy League level engineers same for $100/hr that produce best solutions in the entire world.

2. My ordering of 1000 pieces of equipments are manufactured in Shenzhen and processed in Shanghai within 2 days including transportation. Almost same distance from shore to shore. American truckers can't even deliver anything from Elpaso to Houston within that time frame.

3. China doesn't have much resources. They import the majority of them and manufacture and export.

4. Electric stuff is a "stand out" that China really leads the world by a large margin. I as in the industry trust literally any random Chinese car more than Toyota. Any $10k new cars in China beat these $50k shit boxes we buy here by a large margin on quality, longevity, comfort, and everything. The best selling Toyota rav4 is just a joke in China's market.

What is going on is that China has a glut of these. That does not equate to a scam but prices on some bikes 50% or more off what they were just a short while ago. You can buy the same on amazon or walmart but it will be more.

How are we looking on tarrifs? I've ordered nothing from overseas this year. Are tarrifs attached to these, after the fact?
And please no politics 🙄
Imagine a good leaves China and is sold for $100. When they ship this to US it passes customs. Customs check from where it came. China. Tariffs were settled at 30% by executive order in August. Importer (whoever imported the good in US) pays 30% and passes it to the price of the good plus whatever other margin to the final price. So in the end you, consumer, pays $130 instead of $100ish plus whatever extra cost the intermediary passed to this good. So, indeed, in the end you customer are paying for the tariffs. In the case of this product in particular it already passed customs, tariffs were already paid and are in the final price of $193. Without tariffs it would had cost $150ish. Hope it helps!

Idk somethings off.. no way an electric bike is going for 185$ USD... unless its built with pure junk parts
I bought mine for $240 its very similar to this one but goes 22mph.

What's weird about this one is every photo avoids showing the control cluster / speedometer

India is cheaper than China but doesn't come anywhere close to the ecosystem in China. China is actually becoming more expensive than other developing countries in the world, but the ecosystem in China is so fantastic, it would take tremendous investment to replicate.

Two questions for you:

1. How long do you think Chinese EVs will take to enter the U.S. market? It will be game over for Toyota/Honda/Tesla - they will still sell cars, but a fraction of the volume.

2. What's causing this eBike glut? How long will it last? I have been meaning to purchase an eBike for once in a month grocery trips (that are hard to do because of a hill I have to climb) but I am struggling to find an eBike that looks "normal". If this isn't going to last, I need to make up my mind soon

Something is not adding up as prices on ebikes are lower than they were pre tariff. The prices just a short while ago were closer to $300 for a bike like this. Consumers are not paying more when something costs less.
The person I quoted above might have some answers so I asked. It sounds like, for some reason unknown to us in the U.S., there's a sudden glut of eBikes. Demand Supply.

Would have been even cheaper without tarrifs but due to the glut, it's still cheaper than before

The question is whether the glut is for specific eBikes types (I'm struggling to find ones that look like a normal bicycle) and how long it will last.

There have been multiple styles showing up. Here is one that some members have have got and from what I see all have been generally happy.

I bought that one and it's been fantastic for the price. I own many different E bikes Aventura, Volcon, Lectric. I'm not a neophyte. Thinking of grabbing this one due to its portability factor.

What you are seeing here is an effect of opportunity of cost. Basically, the more something is made, the less it costs to make it. In the case of ebikes, you are seeing the price continuously go down because of how popular they are becoming. Just last year the cheapest ones were still about $1K on sale and before that $2K. We have reached a point where they will now begin to rival regular bikes.

I've owned 3 ebikes, my current one is a Juiced Ripcurrent 1250 peak 54v battery 20ah. This bike will eat anything I throw at it and I get around 90 to 100 miles per charge. This is a very small and weak bike. 150lb or less would be the max weight I would put on it. For the price, it can serve a few purposes, like tooling around flat areas, but not a workout bike, more of a sight seeing bike. I would consider this for Teens over adults. You would probably get 15 max miles out of the battery. It might strugle on larger hills.
150lb or less? is it made for children and women only?

China mass made these kind of toys, to us seem cheap, but to their own people is still expensive.
