1. I have some business ordering stuff from Shenzhen. America made stuff is run by high school graduates or veterans who has no idea what we are asking for nor can remotely meet our qualifications and want $100 per hour. Our Chinese partners are full of Ivy League level engineers same for $100/hr that produce best solutions in the entire world.
2. My ordering of 1000 pieces of equipments are manufactured in Shenzhen and processed in Shanghai within 2 days including transportation. Almost same distance from shore to shore. American truckers can't even deliver anything from Elpaso to Houston within that time frame.
3. China doesn't have much resources. They import the majority of them and manufacture and export.
4. Electric stuff is a "stand out" that China really leads the world by a large margin. I as in the industry trust literally any random Chinese car more than Toyota. Any $10k new cars in China beat these $50k shit boxes we buy here by a large margin on quality, longevity, comfort, and everything. The best selling Toyota rav4 is just a joke in China's market.

What you are seeing here is an effect of opportunity of cost. Basically, the more something is made, the less it costs to make it. In the case of ebikes, you are seeing the price continuously go down because of how popular they are becoming. Just last year the cheapest ones were still about $1K on sale and before that $2K. We have reached a point where they will now begin to rival regular bikes.
I'm going to make a guess as to what might be going on. These companies knew tariffs were coming. They likely loaded up the local warehouses to avoid the tariffs, and the massive amount of imports earlier in the year supports that. Maintaining inventory costs money. Better to cut prices and move it out rather than sit on it. That's my theory.
In other words, you have a bike that cost 10 times what this one does, and somehow 'surprised' it gets 6x the range.

So customs won't hold it and bill us 30% before releasing the goods? Is this the same if I were to buy small stuff from temu?
Easier on the small brakes, cheaper small tires, easier to fold and take, fewer reasons to look for upgrades, no chance of PoPo interactions.
I'm intrigued by this style in my hunt for my first ebike. Like the bigger faster ones more, but worth pondering this size?

I am considering as well but only after having some larger more powerful ebikes.
My thoughts mirror yours. I can imagine many scenarios where something like this is the ideal but on the other side of that it could also be limiting.
I do not think I would not have wanted one for my first or primary ebike. I can take my more powerful bike somewhere and get the range and power if need be but can not do the same with the lower powered bike. I have more need for the more powerful bikes as I have been using them now. I live in hilly neighborhood and ride them there frequently and we have nearby bike trails.
That being said this thing would be ideal for a trip to the beach town for cruising around town. That is not something I would likely do with my bigger bikes just due to the weight and space limitations and something like this would fit the bill perfectly.

LOL, 3x I got on clearance for $759 abou 2 years ago. Not a problem with it and I put about 3k miles a years on it. Wasn't saying this is a bad bike, it is a slick deal, but not meant for the masses, just a select few "smaller" people.
Basically, Yes. Teens, also. Not meant for 200 pounders. probably wouldn't get up a hill and will burn the motor out with larger peeps. Keep in mind, these take 4 to 6 hours to charge the battery after it has gone down and never run it to zero. I run mine to about 25 to30% and charge it to about 90% . It will get you around town for a day.
