Here's the instructions I gave for a diet coke deal I posted but the process is the same...
1 - Start by selecting Subscribe and Save (S&S), choose 5 from the drop-down menu, and click the subscribe button.
2 - On the final S&S screen, adjust the quantity by pressing the "+" button on the left side. Increase the quantity by 1 and wait until the total price updates.
3 - Repeat this step four more times until the quantity reaches 9. The Save $5 when you buy $25 promo should then apply, bringing the total to $20. Good luck, as your mileage may vary (YMMV).
By doing that I was able to purchase $9 for 20; thanks OP. My unholy soup army is nearly complete; soon high blood pressure shall rule the world!

Yeah I tried that and it keeps knocking it down to 5. I even went back to the product page after I bought the initial 5 from S&S to see if I could buy more and the option to buy wasn't there anymore(regular or S&S).
Possibly need to start at adding only 1 to the cart instead of 5, then hitting + one by one.
