i mean it all depends. If you have a surge protector filled up with low power sucking things (plug in LED lights) and you add another surge protector and fill it with a bunch of low power things i cant see that being a problem.

But if you have some heavy power things tv's, ac's, refrigerators, heaters all suck a ton of power. Worse they have compressors that when they first kick on suck a ton more power to spin up.

The more power being used the hotter the wires get. If youre running close to the max the surge protector can take and then all of a sudden your window AC unit kicks on that would be enough to short the breaker or cause a fire.

Not worth it unless you want to risk burning your house down. Useless amount of surge protection
Shouldnt be relying on a power strip for protection against much anyway

is it dangerous to plug this into a heavier duty surge protector or into a heavy guage extension cord

daisy chaining (plugging this into another one or an extension cord) is dangerous by itself

Strange comment. Care to explain how the house will burn down?

Got a set of these in white when they were less than $5. Don't expect these protect anything with the surge function since the clamping voltage is at 1000V. You really want surge protectors to have 400V clamping voltage or less. So if you just need a short extension cord with extra ports, that's effectively what these are.

For this price, these aren't bad for what they are but don't expect much protection.

All depends on the load and most people don't have a clue what pulls what or what a watt even is...

$5 last week. Not sure how the "research" says these are priced lower than last time.

most people do not have much knowledge in regards to power consumption, safe loads and how to ensure an outlet/outlet strip is not overloaded. Many will simply assume that as long as there is an outlet you can plug something in. 600 joules surge protection (small electronics require 1,000-2,000 joules surge protection)is nothing. Just enough so they can label it as a surge protector. Whenever there is a surge in the electrical line coming into your house/apartment/condo this is supposed to absorb the surge and protect anything plugged into it. With a low surge protection amount, this strip would be overloaded and potentially damage items plugged in and it even has the possibility to catch on fire due to the wires overheating and sparks going everywhere

A lot of people don't know what Calorie is Big Grin (just informatively not elitist-like)

P.S. - you can convert Calorie to Horsepower
