Generally I say "TURN OFF SCREEN" and screen goes BLACK, lots of "old ways" to help, but Amazon management destroys them, ... tried other countries, and all types of stuff, but SPONSERED ADS is the current way for Amazon to make money by advertizing to companies to buy "sponsered ads".
Maddening to try to figure out ways to block this stuff, but "we lost the battle" ... so echo show device is just an AD billboard, "hopefully people in mass will boycott this type abuse of our devices.
p.s. it used to be if you had device watch a cam, it would stay on that for hours, now, that no longer works, it will see the cam for about a minute or 2, and go straight to sponsered ad, and never return to the cam.

That 25 billion fable is just a way for amazon to sell stuff MORE using these devices. Sponsered ADS is NEW way for Amazon to make money, using the millions of people that did buy these devices.
Bezos stepped down, and the greedy money managers took over, and they are destroying all the good will that Bezon has built over many years.
It happens all the time, when Visionairy Leaves the company and 2nd gen Greedy Money people take over the company. Just having these devices helps people to think favoribly about Amazon.
Greedy money managers are SHORT-SIGHTED. Bezos thought LONG TERM and made many people millionaires over the years.
In either case, my perception of amazon has changed, ... and others viewpoints are also changing. it takes a few years for the consquences to show up.
p.s. Would you spend 180 dollars for the new 4th Gen echo show 8, knowing the sponsered ADS will be more and more intrusive and a person paid top dollar to get bombed with ADS you can't remove. I wouldn't. Would YOU... if you know the way amazon is using this device now?
p.s.s. I thought about it a little more, .... Amzaon has used info gained by millions of people using these devices to sell to other companies, and also use to target people with products that people buy ... looking over the DATA they collected. Also many other ways Amazon profit-ed from having millions of people using these devices, law enforcement, government use , spying, and all types of behind scenes stuff that Amazon keeps close to the vest. So the bogus 25 Billion in loss for these echo show, dots, hdtv's, fire sticks, ... by gathered all types of stuff on millions of people using these devices... is just B.S. Amazon made tons of money gathering this DATA and then selling it.
