Thanks OP for sharing this! Just ordered a set now. Finding genuine Makita batteries on sale especially from Home Depot is difficult.

For reference a single Makita 5.0Ah battery from Home Depot is $157 (not including charger either).

It looks like it just went back down to the price it's always been prior to about a month ago?

I just purchased this set as well. Thanks OP. Counterfeit batteries are everywhere, so as hard as it is to buy $200 worth of batteries- this seems like a good deal. Home Depot has a 90 day return policy, so I'll return these and repurchase if the price goes lower over the holidays

If you have an Aafes account you can go through their Home Depot portal and get this tax free for around $179. I just did it.

Why not this deal. Are they counterfeit?

Zero seller reviews, claims to be 100% authentic. I'll stick with Home Depot

Walmart is not an authorized reseller of Makita products according to the Makita website. These types of products are heavily counterfeited- and according to those who have done comparisons of the counterfeit vs genuine- the fakes look nearly identical. One of the ways to really tell is the weight. I'm all for saving money- but there's nothing worse than being in the middle of a job and having to stop to charge batteries in order to continue. Plus the genuine Makita batteries come with a three year warranty. In this case- I'll try to find genuine Makita batteries for as little as possible, then buy once / cry once...

This would be worth it if it came with a free tool.

Last year this was on sale for the same price, except it also came along with the 36V massive circular saw, which was just a crazy deal.
I actually have the smaller one and returned the big one because I just didn't have cause for it. Man I wanted to keep it so badly

So for $200, you get the two batteries that everyone wants and a $3.00 bag no one wants and everyone already has multiple chargers. Wait for the $129 deal where you get the two batteries by themselves.
