I agree with you, but it's probably because then it enhances the versatility of its use:

without diffusion you could mount them behind something where it doesn't shine directly at you and the where increased brightness is more advantageous.

If exposed, it certainly needs diffusion.

The only advantage is cost. COB lights are significantly brighter compared to SMD LEDs

How bright are these? Like for under cabinet lights. Had couple mediocre attempts.
If you have reflective countertops like Granite, Quartz, Marble, etc. these will look awful. I used dimmable warm white COB LED strips from BTF Lighting and have been extremely happy.

Yeah, I think you're supposed to wipe the Cheerios off the wall first. nod (but methinks you are exactly correct, lol)

Copped 2 of these last year when they were goin' for the same price. both died on me in like 3 months, LEDs went all blueish and now they can't even show proper colors. Straight up trash.

Don't know about this deal specifically but I installed these at my house and at my mother's house. It took some tinkering with the motion sensor to find the right angle to install it so it triggers as soon as there's some movement on the counter or in front of it, but once it's set up, it works really well. Lights up the whole work surface and turns on/off as needed without having to touch anything.

So why not return them for a refund?

I got a set of these but will probably return them because they cannot be cut to length. I really don't have any use for a 50' span of indoor strip lights. For my purposes it makes more sense to buy multiple sets of cheapie lights from Amazon (like this [amazon.com]) that can be cut, and each length has its own power supply.

I would get a track and stick to the track that way you can swap out the strip later on as well vs. ripping off your paint

Waiting, patiently, for the Pro Curtain Lights to go on sale this season. Anyone have intel on when the Govee seasonal sales start kicking in - BF-ish or...?
