Gen2 of this same model is also $400, if anyone cares. Looks like the biggest improvement is 2000W operating wattage compared to 1600W in previous generation.

would get one, but don't have enough reasons to use it before the 10yr "life cycle" is up. I can think of only a few uses, and maybe once every year.

What? This does not have an expiry date. Why do you assume it will only work for 10 years? I mean don't get me wrong it's electronics and might break but I don't get why you think it has expiration.
