You're much better off with a large flat induction cooktop and a flat pan for even surface cooking. The small advantage with this appliance is that you can use it as a deep fryer. The induction will heat oil quickly and maintain temps.

MIU Stainless Steel Wok

This video from Wok with Tak is very helpful to learn how to use stainless steel woks:

Hopefully they fix this in the next iteration. Make sure the wok actually heats on the bottom rather than a ring. And add buttons to quickly go to max heat or low heat rather than several turns.
I didn't like the included 14" wok as it doesn't move around the base. I bought a smaller 12.5" carbon steel wok to instead. It is much easier to slide the wok around the base as you add oil. The smaller wok doesn't center itself until you add some food in it.
I can do about two wok tosses before the induction burner errors out. If you need to do more tosses, you can always pause it. Definitely get a wok spatula as the angle of it allows you to turn food easily. https://a.co/d/fL10CBQ
Although it heats up very hot and fast, I don't think it'll give you that wok hei. I live in an apartment and sometimes it can get pretty smoky.

It is nitrided carbon steel. It is black, yes, it is a coating*, yes, it is not non-stick. It still has to be seasoned like any other carbon steel wok. As far as I can tell, this is supposed to improve the durability and corrosion resistance. I don't think it provides any non-stick capability because you still really, really need to season it just like any other carbon steel pan. The coating will not come off easily, you can use metal utensils just fine.
There's arguments to be made that plain carbon steel is better if you know how to care for it, because if the coating does chip you can't easily repair it, but I have no idea how hard it is to chip the coating and it is ostensibly added for durability so I guess time will tell.
(Also, ignore their seasoning instructions and look up how to season a wok. They simplify it, probably intended to make it easy for first time wok owners, but their process is really insufficient.)
*I guess perhaps it isn't technically speaking a "coating", but a "thermochemical surface hardening process". huh, neat.

So technically carbon steel specifically isn't required. But I mean... you're not going to get it safely or without ruining your wok/pan unless it's safe for it to get that hot. There are a few nonstick coatings that are high heat capable, but not many, mostly it's bare steel. And most people swear by wok seasoning for wok hei, which... you're not going to be able to season a wok if it has a nonstick coating (other than pre-seasoned, which most people recommend stripping and re-seasoning anyway).
It's too bad about the people saying this is mediocre due to the induction being just a ring of heat, the IDEA seemed fantastic for someone who doesn't have a gas stovetop.
