This Moto G Stylus 5G 2025 deal stands out for a feature packed budget phone, with OLED display, IP68 water resistance, 8GB RAM, 128GB storage, microSD expansion, headphone jack, wireless charging, and a 5000mAh battery. The phone is also praised for snappy performance, good face unlock, and solid value once it unlocks. The main catch is the service requirement, since unlocking depends on 60 days of paid service and the plan math can change with autopay, taxes, and plan downgrades. A few reports also flag battery drain, bloatware, and occasional activation or shipping hiccups, making it a strong value if the carrier terms fit your plan.

  • The unlock process can work after paying two months of service, and the phone may unlock automatically around the 60-day mark.

  • The 2025 Moto G Stylus 5G model includes waterproofing and a feature set that supports microSD storage and a headphone jack.

  • Battery drain concerns are not universal, and some owners report good standby consumption after several days.

  • The phone can be used as a temporary travel device, including for international trips where a separate burner setup helps.

  • Unlocking can require 60 days of paid active service, and the total cost can rise when you include the second month plus taxes.

  • Plan and SIM management can be risky, since switching SIMs or downgrading plans can jeopardize unlock timing and account eligibility.

  • Battery life complaints exist for the 2025 model, and waiting for a newer generation may be a safer bet.

  • Activation and fulfillment can be unreliable, including cases where activation fails for days or orders do not ship promptly.

I received the phone and activated. It was added into my account the moment it shipped so activation was straight forward.
I don have a couple of questions --
(1) Right after activation it shows my plan has 28 days left and auto renewal is off, despite that the plan was supposedly 30 days and I did sign up for auto renewal when buying the phone (to save $5). Should I be concerned, especially considering the unlocking requirement of 60 days?
(2) I navigated to plan change, picked bronze, it displayed warnings that I may lose some promotions if I change. Would I be able to change now without being charged for the phone? Would the change get into effect immediately or not until the next 30-day period?
Thanks

How long does it usually take for the IMEI to became available online and how long does it take to get a tracking number once your order is in ?

It feels like a downgrade to me. The power button position is just better ergonomically, more secure (in the grip sense), more precise particularly for blind operation. The 2022 reader feels instant to me. The 2025 screen reader takes a good second or so. I think I will get used to it though.
This also has face unlock, so you could go that route instead of using the fingerprint sensor if you're already doing biometrics.
The face unlock is pretty damn good and can grab your face well enough even at some bizarre angles.

Any cheap ways to get a second month for the unlock. It's actually a pretty nice phone. I'm impressed with what you get for $60.

A lot of complaints on battery life being much worse than 2024 model - could be a good idea to wait for 2026 generation if you can wait several months until next year
I have the phone and after reading some bad reviews on the battery was happy to discover that the battery life is actually good, for me at least.

What I would do is, I'll purchase from Straighttalk and have it shipped to me. After receiving the phone, I would contact C/S and ask them to rebrand my phone to tracfone. I'll purchase $15 tracfone plan with auto renewal at $10 for two months. Total cost $50+$10+$10=$70. Phone unlocked after two months with the expense of $70
Being it says you have to activate the phone on a new ST line will one be charged full price if it's rebranded without activating on straight talk first?

My fiance currently has service with tracfone so if the phone is activated on ST with a new number can it be rebranded to use on their TracFone account immediately afterwards or do we have to wait for the line to expire when the second month of service isn't paid for customer service to do this?

Would this work with visible?

Let me get this straight: buy it with the gold plan, renew with the $35 plan and when that second plan expires in two months it'll automatically unlock?

Yes, but from what I've read you don't need to wait for it to unlock you can just activate it on ST with a new number, turn off autopay and then activate it on visible with an esim, it probably won't ever unlock though so if you want an unlocked phone use it for 60 days on ST first.

I received mine. Honestly I'm very impressed with it as an iPhone user. Even for $100, it's a great deal. It's never went below $400 retail on Amazon. Of course it will, but jeeze for $100 how can you go wrong?

I just got it as a backup and will probably get another too to gift away.

I bought this phone from this deal and it arrived today. I am very impressed with this phone for $60 after all the taxes. There is an article comparing it to a Samsung S25 Ultra, saying how much it was worth it for the $400 price, but for this cheap it is a no brainer.

Straight Talk = bootloader cannot be unlocked, ever

No 3rd party firmware or root = no longevity after official support ends
For those who have this phone, can you enable developer setting and see if developer settings -> oem unlocking option can be enabled?

I've heard other people say that Straight Talk phones can't be rooted, but I have a Moto Power 2024 and the OEM Unlocking option is available to me on the settings, and I can unlock it. Doesn't that mean that it's rootable and I can install other OS if there's compatibility?

Is the OEM Unlocking option in the dev settings not the ultimate confirmation that it's rootable?

No phone has 6G yet, it's only recently been proposed. If you're referring to Wi-Fi this phone supports tri-band 6e.
The U.S. plans to roll out 6G in the early 2030s, while China's plan is for 2030. Interestingly, China's advancements include an "all-frequency" 6G chip capable of speeds over 100 Gbps and the launch of a test satellite for 6G technology.

They had a software update that solved the battery drain issue according to some YouTube phone reviewers.

Can $50 plan be downgraded to cheaper Tracfone plan after rebranding to Tracfone? For example $50 plan be divided to 2@$25 monthly Tracfone plans so I don't have to pay additional month to unlock? I already have Tracfone plan bought from QVC/HSN and after rebranding add the this phone to Tracfone account and move my existing number to this phone with all talk/text/data and after 60 days Auto Unlock?
